Hi All,

I am after information on how to apply for uk spouse visa for my wife.

After 2 failed attempts and 30,000bht to get visitor visa the visa world agency in regent house bangkok said spouse visa would be easier to obtain. so we got wed last week in bangkok (another 12,000bht for agency)

now this agency ask for a further 50,000bht to get us a visa. (not including the 34,000bht charge for embassy)

I have read on this website that this agency is no good.

just a few questions, how easy is it to obtain visa by ourselves with me being back in the uk? has anyone had any success with this agency? will it be easy to get all paperwork of mine back off these people when i tell them i no longer need their help?

thanks in advance for any advice

I don't think you need this Forum to tell you this

I have read on this website that this agency is no good.

however, I might be jumping the gun without knowing the reasons for refusal.

If you want to continue with an Agency, use this One .

Good Luck

Hi Raith,

Save your money and do it oyurself, what information do you think they know about your circumstances that you dont know

If your application meets the requirements then you get the spouse visa, it really is as simple as that.

You might like to consider things from the person dealing with your application, is it reasonable in their position you might wonder why people would use an agency rather than do it themselves?

Also dont forget agencies are known the the embassy staff and you might like to consider is it possible that your application could be tainted by the possibilty of previous bad history between them? I dont know this agency and have no axe to grind, but presumably the sales pitch they gave convinced that they could get you the visitors visa?

Basically if you have a provable history of your relationship over a reasonable period, sufficient financal resources and somewhere to live and the lady has no skeletons in the cuboard then you are almost certainly home and dry.

If on the other hand you have difficulties with any of the above criteria then that will influence the decision, but dont be too down hearted, there is no magic formula, each case must be considered on its own merits and they are not allowed to have a blanket response to applications.

Sure its a big worry for everyone in your shoes, been there myself 3 years ago and believe me I was stressed too, but its not rocket science believe me, careful preperation is the key to all planning, and if you fail to prepare, then be prepared to fail as they say.

Agents can be good or can be crap, as the legislation has recently changed in the uk I doubt that all Agences over there let you know the full consequencies of these changes, the only person to suffer will by you and yours, so Iwould not put my future happiness in the hands of a commercial operation that get paid upfront and other than say sorry are not accountable for the often bad advice they provide.

Are you in the uk now or still in thailand?

Good luck, remember you cannot afford to cock this up so take your time and get it right.

Yup, good advice here.

And the possibility they know the legitimate and knowledgeable ones too?

It is as simple as that apparently.

thanks for all your advice,

I am back in the UK and will not be able to go back to thailand till later in the year (have used all my leave from work)

My biggest problem is that visa's have to be applied for in Thailand and my wife hasnt got the energy or the knowledge to do so. We need the visa quick as airlines will not let her travel after 7 months pregnant and would like our baby to have british passport to avoid these visa problems in the future.

Thanks again for your time in reading my post and advising me accordingly.

The problem that you face is that to the best of my knowledge no agency in Thailand is actually recognised as being competent in UK immigration law and policy. None, as far as I am aware, either commit their name to the application or write a covering letter which addresses both the requirements of the Immigration Rules and any potential pitfalls. They may be aware of which documents the embassy requires to see, but they do not understand the relevance of these to the actual law, and when there is a hitch, don't know how to take the matter forward. At best their function is to hand-hold.

That said, even if your child is born in Thailand, it is likely that s/he will have an automatic entitlement to British citizenship. You should be British "otherwise than by descent" and, in this instance, married to the mother (which you say you are already).
