Hi all, sorry im sure this has been on here before but i cant seem to find anything now! My Thai wife has been in Uk 3 weeks now(On settlement visa) and she has got a full time job already(cant believe so soon!!) her employer is asking about her NI number..how do i go about getting one for her?? many thanks in advance

Call the local job centre, they will make her an apointment, she has to attend, take her passport, i.d etc then they will send the information off to some where in Scotland.

They will then send your wife a letter with her n i number, she will have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for her card.

My Mrs went for her apointment/interveiw at the job centre about a week and half ago, the other day she got a letter with her n i number, but it states she will have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for her n i card.

As Scottys says, pretty straight forward really. 20mins filling forms at your local job centre and a couple of weeks later she will have her N.I number.
