Hi,

Looking for gym exercise machines, of the type that allows different exercises. Prefered type is Bowflex, but I'll look at any brands. I am looking for a supplier with a showroom in BKK.

Have you used Bowflex? We use them at work because we don't have much room but they don't have much resistance if you are used to working out already. They are kind of a last resort if you can't use weights but better than nothing and you can improvise a lot. Not seen one on sale in Bangkok yet and I do look at places like central often. Good luck.

I prefer free weights too. But not everyone is has training experience. If you have never trained in the past and are not interested in free weights a bowflex machine would be good. I got a nice pully at home and im almost at the limit of its weights (it was already an extended version) Its a shame when something like that happens.

I know two suppliers that have sold me nice equipment in BKK one is Jackies fitness and the other is ultimatefitness. Both have machines and free weights, personaly i would try to get my hands on free weights if you can. It has been shown to be much more effective and give you a better workout.

The reason fitness centers don't like them is that it is easier to put clients on machines then to instruct them into using free weights and supervising them. For them its a money game and their first priority is not your health but their money.

I have been a fitness instructor for a couple of years, and i have been training on and of for a long time now. The things is they don't like hearing things that aren't in their best intrest. So studies showing free weights to be superior are not often believed or given attention too.

However i would not start free weights when you don't know what your doing.
