Just before dawn on Friday, Police Major Witaya from Pattaya Police Station made his way to the front of the Nova Lodge Hotel in Central Pattaya to investigate an attack and robbery involving a German Tourist.

Police met with the 55 year old man who had sustained a minor head injury. He explained that as he was walking along the road, he was approached by a transsexual who suggested the pair go back to his Hotel.

The victim agreed a price of 500 Baht and the pair made their way to his Hotel. On the way, the transsexual snatched his mobile phone and attempted to run away.

The German man shouted for help and during this time, he was struck over the head with an empty beer bottle.

The transsexual fled the scene with the mobile phone. The injured tourist decided not to register the incident at Pattaya Police Station and instead made his way to the Hospital for treatment.

Yep, just another tourist that just happened to be taking a stroll along Beach Road.

Of course, we are only hearing his side of the story. Of course, he is just the innocent victim. Of course he never did or said anything to deserve this.

He just happened to be out for an early morning stroll. The "transexual" (good that he was able to easily distinguish that fact), came up to him (OK, it probably happens, almost as often as various farangs approach various "transexuals" in that area).

He agrees to take he/she back to his hotel (OK, he wasn't out for a "casual" early morning stroll now, was he ?).

He/she grabs his mobile phone and "attempts to run away" (odd, it says all he did was shout for help, and "during that time" he was struck with the empty beer bottle).

Did the he/she get angry that Mr Farang was calling for help, stop, grab a beer bottle and clock him with it ? Is that why he/she only "attempted" to run away ? And then actually ran away after using Mr Farang's noggin for batting practise ?

Why wasn't he/she able to successfuly run away in the first attempt, if all Mr Farang did was call for help ?

It wouldn't be because Mr Farang tried to physically stop he/she from running away with his phone, would it ? He doesn't mention doing anything other than call for help.

I know ! He/she grabbed the phone. Mr Farang started calling for help. He/she noticed that it was a piece of crap phone that wouldn't fetch much at the pawn shop. He/she, angry that his/her efforts weren't going to bag much dosh, grabs a convenient nearby beer bottle (checks that it's empty first), and whacks Mr Farang on the head with it in retaliation for not having a phone worth stealing, then runs away.

Case solved ! It's the farangs fault for not having a phone worth stealing !

I'm not trying to say he deserved getting whacked with a beer bottle or anything. How ever, if he hadn't been trolling for tranny hookers on Beach Road in the wee hours of the morning, this (most likely) wouldn't have happened.

I would go on to suggest that the fact he wasn't willing to make an official report of the incident may mean he was well aware that his side of what happened may not be the truth, the whole truth, so help him Sang Som.

Lesson to be learned ? Two of them perhaps.

1) Don't go trolling for tranny hookers on Beach Road.

I'm not saying they're all on amphetamines but a lot of it has to do with behavior patterns and

the girls who smoke the yaba pills are the same way. Overly aggressive, extremely persistent,

even after being told "no" or "mai ow" or any other number of attempted polite refusals. Almost

always these encounters end with Thai insults or other anti-social mannerisms. And of course

they're thin, and they like to maintain a lithe figure and be out at 4-5am every day looking for

customers while cloaked in shadow. Amphetamines are just predominant in this lifestyle. I don't

like seeing elderly folks getting done over just because they're white and as we enter the low-

season and sources of income continue to dry-up it's only going to start getting worse.

It is all down to the stability of the matter inside a beer bottle.

Full beer bottles are in an unstable state and need the addition of a hole in order to correct that situation.

Once a beer bottle aquires a hole it quickly returns to it's stable state as an empty beer bottle.

Occasionally you might see a beer bottle that has aquired a hole but is still full. Then it is in a metastable state and any movement, particularly rotational in the vertical plane, causes it to empty quickly so as to attain a state of stability.

This is very similar to drinkers, in fact drinkers can be considered to be anti-bottles much the same as matter and anti-matter. Empty drinkers are in a stable state but, in an attempt to achieve world stability, introduce holes to unstable full bottles. The bottles pass quickly through their metastable state to become stable. However, due to the transfer of mass, the drinkers become full and very unstable. Apart, that is, from the drinkers who maintain an appearance of stability usually on a bar stool but are in fact themselves in a metastable state and should not be disturbed.

As to your question, I have very little experience when it comes to the emptying of beer bottles. How ever, I would surmise that the process is similar in some aspects to the way in which whiskey (and whisky) bottles come to be in an empty state.

The process generally starts off quite simply with the removal of the closure device, also known as the cap, (or lid in some places). Small quantities of the contents are (usually) poured into another container (often a glass of varying sizes). Normally, the closure device is replaced once the desired amount has been poured.

In some cases, once the closure device has been removed, the contents are simply poured into the oral orifice of the consumer. This tends to be somewhat messier than the aforementioned method, especially when done repeatedly over a short time span.

I have observed that this method is normally how beer bottles are emptied as well, though a glass may be used when one wishes to give the appearance of being well mannered and polite.

In either case, eventually the contents of the bottle become diminished.
