German Marriage Cert -> Translation Into Thai

Recommended Posts

For a friend of mine I need a translation for his German marriage certificate into Thai language. Contacted some agencies here in Pattaya but was not really convinced of their response. The quoted me abt. 6,500 Bht

Think that is quite expensive, has any BM a reliable translator, possible at a lower rate?

If so, please PM me.

It's a two part deal. Anyone can do the translation for a few hundred baht. The important part is getting it legalized. It has to go to Bangkok to have that done. That office is out near Laksi not far from Don Muang airport. I think they call it the bureau of foreign affairs.

Even if that is included, 6,500 baht is very expensive. If the legalization is not included, it is a plain and simple rip off.

Why doesn't he get it done in Germany?

Plenty of Thai beglaeubige Übersetzer (often married to Germans) and working there.

Here's a very good guy in Frankfurt I've used for years and reasonably priced http://www.wangsai.de/

I met a Germanguy who is certified translator on a function the other day. Not yet sure how much he charges (I will need his service for myself soon...) but PM me for contact details!

If you want to get it done in Bkk, just head to Wireless Road. Loads of translators down there who will do it for a few hundred baht. If you need it legalised as well, that's a trip to Laksi and it's a 2 day process. Hand over the translation, come back in 2 days and it will be all stamped up for you. It's a bit of a trek out of town though. Some of the translators on Wireless can do all of this - for an inflated fee of course

Go to any language school and they will do it for 500-600 THB.

Then you have a certified translation meaning that the text is correctly translated.

Next step: prove that the original is a real document and not some home made powerpointslide ...

The embassy (in your friend's case the German embassy of course) can provide you something like this.

Third step since there seem to be quite some embassy certificates going around that are not real or not seriously checked (I will not mention that these are mainly Russian because that could cause my reply being cut): get a certification from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs to show that your embassy document is real and to be trusted. (123 Chaengwattana Rd., Tungsonghong Laksi Bangkok 10210. Tel. (662) 981-7171)

As previous posters mentioned normally a 2 day thing but for a few hundred bath extra, you can take the fast track and your document will be finished in 2-3 hours.

Just to inform you, I asked the legal guy in my company and he found somebody doing the translation for 300 Bht.

Thanks for all your advise!
