Laos Visa From North Thailand

Hi, was just wondering what the situation is with getting a 30 day tourist visa on arrival to laos at the northern thai borders near chang mai, is this still possible or do i need to get the visa beofre hand? Thanks for any help, Edd.

Well if I was going to be pedantic I'd say you get your lao visa at the Lao border opposed to the Thai ones. . .

But the fact is you can turn up at all the Lao border points and get a 30 day visa on arrival.
