This can't be worse than a thread about toilet paper.

Okay I have found some affordable but low quality Ginseng extracts at the various Chinese pharmacies near Gaat Luang and the "Il Hwa" (Korean) ginseng extract sold at some better pharmacies and special stands like at Tops @KSK. The hitch is that the good stuff Il Hwa is double the price of me buying it in the U.S. and having it shipped. I will most likely just ship it periodically but it's crazy that its so much more expensive in Thailand.

Has anyone found any quality sources around CM that are better values?

TIA

FYI. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginseng

Both American and Panax (Asian) ginseng roots are taken orally as adaptogens, aphrodisiacs, nourishing stimulants, and in the treatment of type II diabetes, including sexual dysfunction in men. The root is most often available in dried form, either in whole or sliced form.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine Panax Ginseng promotes Yang energy, improves circulation, increases blood supply, revitalizes and aids recovery from weakness after illness, stimulates the body.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptogen

The term adaptogen is used by herbalists to refer to a natural herb product that is proposed to increase the body's resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety and fatigue. In the past, they have been called rejuvenating herbs, qi tonics, rasayanas, or restoratives.

I am not sure what meets your requirements for 'quality' ginseng but I buy one which is a liquid that comes in a 100ml bottle and contains 20mg of Korean Ginseng.

GSD Beverage is at the top of the label and it is put out by CSD Drug Factory here in Thailand. It also contains some sugar, honey, Taurine and a few other ingredients which, for me, makes the taste palatable.

I take this daily because my cardiologist insisted that if I took ginseng every day, it would normalize my rising blood pressure which it has certainly done.

It is not easy to find and I have only seen it in a few pharmacies. The one I go to is on the way to Mae Jo, at the second overhead walking bridge. Cost is 450/case or 9B per bottle.

Thanks Dustoff

Good information.. I will give it a try.

The high quality Korean Ginseng that is sold in most of the pharmacies in CM and also a assorted specialty kiosk's is Il Hwa and comes in 30, 50 and 100 gram bottles of extract. 30 grams is about a months supply. The prices are 1850, 2879 and 5300 baht respectively. It's awesome stuff but just can't believe its twice the price as in the states including shipping.
