Got My Non-imm O From Ny

Featured Replies

But a little confused...

I requested the Single entry thinking I will wire in 400K when I get over

and not do the 90 day runs to the border as with a Multiple entry visa.

On the Visa's 4th line down - there is something that says

Remarks

Extension of stay not permitted

Does this just mean I cant use this as a multiple entry or did I hose something here?? :o

Thanks for any help!

Nam

Don't worry about it. They all say that so you will not assume you can get a 30 day extension like on a tourist visa. You can still extend your stay for support of Thai wife or retirement.

I just got a 3 month Non-O. Single entry.

I want to extend it by a year at a time.

I'm leaving for NY in december when I've had the visa for 1-month.

Can I apply for the extension before the visa expires based on the

argument that I want the Multientry 1-year visa so I dont have to apply

for visas every time I go abroad.

Or do I have to get a new 3-month class O, and wait until it expires

before I can get the extension?

You could try it but when I went to Pattaya immigration for my one-year extension they were loathe to accept an application until the last month's validity of my entry stamp and then it was 2 months before I got the extension. I was informed that if I left Thailand whilst the application was under consideration it would automaticallly lapse and I'd have to start from scratch.

Scouse.

Don't forget the re-entry permit if you travel after the extension is granted Scouse.

I thought you could get a reentry stamp to travel while your application was under consideration BUT you had to be back in Thailand in time for the reappearance date at Immigration(?).

That would be true if you do not obtain re-entry permit. As long as you obtain a re-entry permit and return by the date indicated believe you can travel during the under review period. But you will need a new re-entry permit again after that date if you want to travel again.

Poster does not say how long he plans to be in NY. If only for a few weeks just get a re-entry permit prior to travel and come back on the same visa - then when within the last 30 days allowed apply for extension of stay. If your return will not be within that period you can ask immigration for an exception but believe they will probably advise you to just obtain another visa during your New York visit; and that is what I would do.

You can get a re-entry permit on any visa, at any time, even "under consideration". Just make sure you are back before the last date stamped in your passport, or you will have to start all over again.

I'm only leaving for a few weeks, so getting a re-entry permit sounds perfect.

I get it at the immis office i suppose.

Thanks for your answers.

Get a multiple entry re-entry permit if you will leave Thailand often over the next 12 months. You can get it at Immigration.

That will probably be a waste of money, until he has his one year extension.

I was assuming that he intended to extend straight away. :o
