T&TT. Why? Because T&TT have better service (that dosen´t say much :o ) . If you talk about internet, have in mind that TOT blocked youtube for a year without any explanation, they just recently unblocked it. This can happen to many sites, for example many web pages from the Swedish government are blocked. Why? I don´t know.

TT&T, no question.

Early this year, perhaps in January, my wife and I decided to put broadband into our house in Chok Chai. Of course, this entails phone service as well. We went to TOT and they said no problem, we can do. We had to put some money up front and they said they would be getting the service activated soon (house is already wired from previous service).

Several times over the next four months we inquired back as to when the service would be activated. They kept saying, "Next week, next week...we do not have number yet". At least, that is what I was getting in the translation through my wife.

Finally, in early April, we checked again, and were told, "Check after Songkran". And acted a bit annoyed that we were bothering them with such trivial things as 'when will our service be activated'. Keep in mind that they were billing us a couple hundred baht per month during all of this. Perhaps the phone service was activated, I never checked because I am only interested in the Internet portion...I have my mobile for voice calls.

After Songkran, we checked once more, same story. They must have said something that the wife did not like, because she had me u-turn and pull in at the TT&T office. About 10 minutes in there and we had set up service...then back to TOT where she spent only a couple of minutes inside, and I assume did some complaining...she had asked me to wait outside.

We headed back to Bangkok a couple of days later and were not back in Chok Chai for about 3 weeks. After we returned, the next day she called the office and told them we were ready for the service, they said possible this afternoon, or tomorrow. About two hours later a pickup truck with one boss, two Somchais, and a ladder showed up at the house. They strung a new wire from the utility pole into the house and put in a new double phone jack box. We had stopped by the office the day before and picked up the modem. About five minutes of fiddling with that and I was online! Of course, I immediately tore down that configuration and added my switch and wireless access point...all is well.

Funny...we just returned up here from BKK and there was another bill from TOT in the post box. The wife was not happy..."We pay them 3900 baht already and get nothing...not pay more"
