Having read the overstay treads of one day overstay I have not come across a fool like myself in any of the treads.

My story is iv got an overstay stamp in my passport red one already , flight left at 0230 so was 2.30 hours over this was in February 2007 been over a few times since and am hoping to retire next year I am over 50.

When I looked at my tickets this time 30 DAYs September im back again on an overstay. One day again.

1/

My options as I see it are take the overstay that will be two red stamps in my passport. No charge of 500Baht just overstay stamp.

2/

Apply for 7 extensions at immigration police Suan Phlu. Fee is 1900 baht.

And waiting around half the day.

3/

Head to Aranyaprathet / Poi pet boarder to Cambodia. And get pis**** off for the day with touts. $25 or 1000Baht visa.

4/

Do visas run for 2000 to 2500Baht?

Having two red stamps with overstay worries me and I guess after reading this back my options are to do one of the above for the sake of 2.30 hours as later who knows what way immigration will look at my overstay stamps.

Option 1 ..... I guess you will be at the airport already before the visa expires. Just go through immigration before midnight and get another stamp ... as you're cleared already at 0.01 am you'll have no risk at all.

I have had up to 10 red stamps in my passport (with overstays of up to 2 months) .... no problem.

Do you not know how to read a calendar or simply you have no respect for the laws of Thailand ?

I would have thought that the overstay system was in place for those who genuinely accidently overstay, not for people to take the piss. They should jail you on the 3rd overstay. That's just rude !

Suggesting it's no problem might bite you in the nuts if you get picked up by the Police for being an illegal immigrant. I can't understand how you could take that so lightly.

Well, if it isn't EmptyHead again?

There is a law in Thailand which says that a visitor will be fined 500 baht for day he overstays ... I respect that law :o

Furthermore. you might stick with the subject of this thread instead of judging ...

OK, 1st, Maybe you could show a little respect and not change my nickname like a child would.

Second, Yes that is the law but as you know, If you get caught, it's bad.

Thirdly, I did stick with the subject of the thread and I'm shocked that not only do you abuse the laws of Thailand but you think that just because you have not been caught you would suggest that others do the same.

Overstay is Illegal and bad, There is nothing else to say. The fact that you advertise that you have "done it 10 times" just says what your morals are, Please respect the laws of the country that you choose to live in.

Overstaying your "stamp" in your passport is not a joke and should not be treated as such.

Please abide by the laws and respect the people that you live with.

Why are you like this ? You have no respect ?

I have never done an overstay and do not intend to ever do so.

Here would be seem to be the alternatives, in *my* order of preference:

1) Better trip planning, to avoid the situation altogether. I understand shit happens, and I do not know the circumstances which placed you in this position. I will say that I know more than one pretty sharp individual who simply cannot wrap their head around calendar time. At any rate, this one is not an option for this trip.

2) Change the flight if possible and not cost prohibitive

3) Get the extension of stay (then change your flight to match :o )

4) Do a visa run (then stay another month :D :D )

5) Bite the bullet and take the overstay stamp

It might just be me, but I do not like calling attention to myself.

It would seem that you would want to take a similar approach, seeing as how you will be asking Thai Immigration to grant you a Retirement Visa in the near future. Our good friend sniffdog can say, "no problem", and it might turn out to be no problem, but it would really suck to have your retirement visa application refused because some Immigration official was having a bit of a bad day and he decided that your are some sort of smartass scofflaw.

The one-day overstay "allowance" (for lack of a better term), would seem to make an allowance for those who genuinely make a mistake, or party too hard on their last night and miss their flight, etc etc etc...not for habitual offenders to take advantage of to stay longer.

And, "the law" might say 500 THB per day for overstay, but that is not the extent of the potential consequences. Don't bend over to pick up the soap....

I would have to defer to sniffdog on this, since I have never done an overstay...he seems to be proud of it.

But, if it was me here would be my order of preference:

1) Better planning, so as not to have the problem at all. Obviously this is not an option for this time.

2) Change the flight so as not to overstay. I know nothing about your financial situation, or what it might cost to change, if anything.

3) Option 2, get the extension at Suan Phlu

4) Do a visa run...seems like a hassle for one day, unless you can stay for another 29 days :o

I do not like to do things which call attention to myself...red stamps in a passport could do that.

Especially considering that you may be applying for a retirement visa soon. It might be "no problem", but then again some Immigration officer who is having a bad day could see the red stamps and tell you, "go home". That would suck for you.
