You can also go to the long distance bus terminals in Sungai Nibong. Most minivan will pass by that area because that area is near the Penang Bridge.

I have taken the bus that at 8:00AM. I am not sure if there are any after that time. RM35 or 350 Bahts.

There are vans in the afternoon. Morning generally seems to be more popular with travelers though. Figure that the vans that run from Hat Yai to Penang in the morning will usually make a return run in the afternoon.
