Hi everyone,

We're looking for a family friendly place to stay in either Kata or Karon beach (have heard these are the most family friendly) on Phuket.

Any suggestions on places to stay - we're trying to decide between renting a house and staying in a resort. There will be 11 of us including 3 small children <3yrs .... so what do you think?

We want to stay 2 weeks in the same place - with this many people we just want to unpack and enjoy each other's company.

Obviously cost is a big factor, but we don't want cheap and nasty. Something comfortable and preferably close to the beach.

cheers

Karen & Laurent

Hi Karen and Laurent,

The Phuket Orchid Resort is definitely family friendly, and has the most reasonable rates of any of the big resorts. 50 meters to Karon Beach and a lot of nice little restaurants in walking distance.

Hi,

I would also do both. In Phuket I suggest Kamala Beach (but no Hotel to suggest) and in Samui the Coral Bay Resort.

we have just had a week in Karon , its very quiet and is family friendly.

The beach in nice but you can't swim as there is a strong rip curl. we stayed at the old phuket hotel which is 100m from the beach ,it was cheap and cheerful, by this I mean it wasn't a high class place but was clean and the pool had a kiddies pool next to the main with seperating safety bars. the rooms are made up daily and there is a small soi you walk up on the way to the beach with a number of resaraunts on it ( Ging was our favourite as we found the food there was great value and my wife hitit off with the staff).

Personally I prefer Samui to phuket but I feel there are a few more attractions in Phuket and seeing as we had my son (11 years old) and my parents (68 and 66 ) with us ,we decided on phuket this visit.

I would suggest paying a visit to sawadee.com to look for hotels I use them about 90% of the time when booking hotels in LOS.
