Varies depending on the airline you are using for the flight from Bangkok (BTW-it's CNX unless you actually meant Houghton County Airport in Michigan!). For example, if you are flying THAI straight-thru, then you check-in at international in Chiang Mai. The gotcha is whether you will clear immigrations in Chiang Mai and that depends on the arrangements the airline you are flying on your international flight has made.

In fact even thats superfluous: its just 1 terminal, simply follow signs. The building as such is smaller as most 1-airline US-domestic terminals anyway
