Speaking Russian And Going To Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I'm a Brit who speaks Russian reasonably well having worked there for 8 years. I will be going to Pattaya shortly and i'm wondering if someone can give me some leads. The trip was originaly for pleasure by why pass up an oppotunity?

I specialise in the restaurant business but i would consider any contacts really or advise as to how i could market myself there.

Thanks in advance.

PS. before the wise asses chip in no mafia, drugs or prostitution entertained! :o

There is a booming real estate and related market for Russians in Pattaya. If not buying properties outright, a considerable number of Russians send their families (wife, kids) to Pattaya during Russian winter for English schools or just to avoid the cold.

Try that way, good chance it may land you in a job.

There was an article recently (even posted on this board) about an Estonian guy who was forced to learn Russian when he was young, hated every moment and every word of it but now - he revealed - his Russian language skills are making his life good in Pattaya.

Must be the biggest market in Pattaya at present - plenty of Russian speaking busineses now in Pattaya.

That's what the OP is after.

Good luck to him, if I were a real estate agent I would have conscripted him right now, from this board.

Hi Robert,

I understand you specialise in the resataurant business - But have you given a thought to the real estate world?

I know in Phuket they are moving in by the truck load, with a lot of the sellers using English as there comunicative choice. I could see a great deal of work for you in that department.

A Russian friend of mine has sold 16 houses in the last 6 months. As you probally know the Russians don't muck around - and have money to spend.

Google real estate agents in Phuket. There are some reputable ones out there.

Speaking with one of the "top" real estate company owners recently he stated that the only member off his staff that was doing good bussiness was a girl who spoke fluent Russian, got to be an opening, would doutless help if you are truthfully challenged and have a good imagination :o

Good Luck

Cheers. I suppose the real estate market is doing well in Thailand as far as the Russians is concerned is that in Moscow the cheapest apartment is going for 5,000 US$ a sq.m That's for a very basic place. No ameneties in the building or reception, like in Thailand. In other cities they go for around around 2,000 US$ a sq.m So Thailand is very attractive for them. Another thing is that there is a limited amount of countries that they can go to. Most places they need a visa for, usualy impoissible to get. Turkey and Egypt are the other big destinations for them.

I will keep it in mind. Anyone else with any ideas?

Thanks again.

It's a common knowledge and irrelevant.

Your question was - what you can do with your Russian language skills in Pattaya or in Thailand.

If you did not know, Russians now get the same 1 month visa on arrival, same as you get with British passport.
