Can Computer Speakers Be Used For Television ?

Featured Replies

Can those small computer speakers also be used as extra speaker(s) for a television, by adjusting the pin of the plug (it doesn't fit) and plug it in the audio port of the television ? :o

Shouldn't be a problem! Just use an converter jack and it will works just fine.

Cheers.

most TVs don't have speaker outputs, they only have amplifiers inside that are just big enough to drive the internal speakers.

However most modern TV do have line out sockets [usually on red and white RCA sockets]. You would need to use self-powered external speakers, or a small external amplifier and then use that to drive the speakers. It all comes down to how much power you want and how loud you want to get...

Typically the self-powered computer speakers do quite a reasonable job for normal listening levels.

You would probably need to get a 3.5st-2xRCA cable or adaptor, but they're readily available and cheap.

You actually plug them into the headphone socket so make sure any TV you buy has one, that way the volume is controlled by the TV remote control, try the Saag 10r at 800thb I just wrote about in another post, they will give you that cinema rumble.
