Warning of Jellyfish Spread at Popular Tourist Sites in Trang
Picture courtesy of National Parks Department. A warning has been issued after toxic jellyfish were discovered in popular tourist destinations across Trang province. The National Park of Hat Chao Mai has announced that the venomous jellyfish have spread across several key locations including Koh Kradan, Koh Mook (Emerald Cave), Koh Meng, and Yong Ling Beach, all well-known coastal attractions in the area. The jellyfish species identified as Pelagia sp., are commonly referred to as fire jellyfish. Officials from the Southern Andaman Sea Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre (SAC) have collected samples from the affected areas. Tourists and the general public are advised to avoid swimming in areas where the jellyfish have been spotted and not to touch the creatures. If stung, individuals may experience a burning or stinging sensation, though the sting is not life-threatening. To alleviate symptoms, it is recommended to rinse the sting area with vinegar for at least 30 seconds. Should symptoms persist or worsen, medical attention should be sought immediately. Local authorities are urging visitors to stay cautious as they continue to monitor the situation. -- 2025-02-14 -

The suspect, known only as Mr. Johnpaul, aged 37, was detained at a rented property in Thep Krasattri with a possession of 7.2 grams of cocaine.
