Aside from my nephews and nieces my parents and grandmother is coming over for a week vacation. One option is to go to dreamworld (for the kids) but mostly concerned about my folks that falls on the 50-76 age. I would love to see them enjoy their trip here as this is their first time. Shopping is in the least of their priority especially my granny who can't walk that far. So my idea of bringing them to Pratunam area would likely take place about 1-2 hrs max depending on how it goes.

Any suggestions for restaurants and palces to visit?

My parents loved to go with boat (if not afraid) on the river and you only need to sit.

even the regular boat trips up to nonthaburi or on the khlong sean seap from the golden mount to the end and back are great and incredibly cheap. National museum has free guided tours in english

For something different, you could take the boat to Wang Lang Pier & visit the museums (the Forensic Medicine Museum is my favourite) at Siriraj Hospital. The walk is not too far, so, I imagine your granny would be OK.

I agree with the above. Boat trips are great, especially book the Shangrila Hotel trip to Ayuthaya. Leave early on a bus and head to Bang Pa In where you can get a golf cart to ride around. Then off to Ayuthaya on the bus where you can go around at your leisure. Return back to Bangkok by boat where a good buffet lunch is served with views of the river all the way back.

My parents and my grandmother have visited several times and this was the highlight of their trip. Everytime my parents come they love going out on the river both day and night as they can see the sights without walking so much.

Have fun
