Is this a Thailand or International Speedtest?

I just scored 1374 Down.... While I'm downloading 2 Torrents.. which are showing a Download speed of between 10-30 kB/s each...

Total of about 50 kbps.... Just where is all that lost capacity ????

Up Speed was 24 kbps.. Out of 512??? uTorrent shows total up of about 50 kbps.. again... about 400 Lost here.

My TRUE account is supposed to by 2 Mbs Down... 512 Up.

What's happening?

Hi folks,

We have upgraded the Thaivisa Speedtest, located at http://speedtest.thaivisa.com

It should now be more accurate and comes with some nice features like latency test (ping test).

It also shows your IP address,

Please test it and tell us what you think!

http://speedtest.thaivisa.com

But it shows the "local" bandwidth only...?

Download Speed: 1745 kbps (218.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 369 kbps (46.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 215 ms

Latency: 140 ms

It meters your bandwidth to and from Thaivisa server based in Singapore.

Here's mine. Strange that the Download/Upload speeds are inverted from what one normally expects. From CMU.

Download Speed: 928 kbps (116 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 2292 kbps (286.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 111 ms

That's really good because you get almost double then what you pay for.Now I know where my lost speed goes. :o

I have Flash 9 installed on my Windows Vista PC... But when I try the speed test in Firefox 3, I get an error message saying the test requires at least Flash 7 installed.... What gives???

I'm having the same problem, I tried both IE7 and FF3 - both say i need at leats flash 7 and I have 9 installed... not sure whats up with that.

I was not uploading or downloading anything

Download speed: 693 kbps

Upload speed: 62 kbps

Again not uploading or downloading anything. Similiar upload speed to yours Peaceblond but neither of us are anywhere near the speeds of all the others joining this post. Maybe this speedtest was an abberation for you - have you retested?

I must add however that these are pretty normal results for me as I live near Si Sa Ket and rely on the use the TOT satellite service

I have just got off the phone with TOT contact center (in Bangkok). I am paying THB 590 for 1024/512 and am on a wireless connection and at any time we either have one, but no more than two computers using this connection. I was referred to www.speedtest.net as the one that TOT uses as the server is in Thailand. Note, it is Sunday afternoon and I checked my speed with TV first and it 754/297 and then with TOT on the phone using their speedtest function and it was 890/390. I did check using TV's last night and it never got above 225/200 with one computer connected. Twice last night the upload speed was 15 and 16!

Below summarizes the key points made by TOT:

- The time of the day matters (which we already know).

- Having two computers in use on a wireless network at any one time decreases the best speed by 50% etc.

- At any one time, normal is 70% of what you pay for (I appreciated his honesty here). Hence, he said if one computer is connected, then I can normally expect 700/350 or close to this. The fact that it was higher when I talked to him was, he said, because it is Sunday afternoon and there aren't as many users.

OK, the 70% normal speed of the 1024/512 that they advertise surprised me greatly. Is this really true or is TOT blowing smoke because their connections never reach what they advertise?

Pretty useless (as before). Not many people would access servers in Singapore ....

I think you didn't get the purpose of this speedtest!

This test is for to test the connection to the Thaivisa Server and everything but useless!

As you should know, if you read the post's related to complaint's about connection to the Thaivisa Server, you should able to understand the purpose of the specific speedtest!

Cheers.
