A bit of controvercy over whether the bars are open or shut on the 5th Dec.

Anyone know?

Open

Open. But alot of bars wont sell alcohol. If they do they might ask you to drink from a plastic cup. And no bottles on display.l

I'm closed

I'm closed

I think the majority in Pattaya are closed.....the bars can get away with opening on other holidays to some extent but the 5th December is the exception.

talkin sh1t for a change :o

Some bars will be open for sure. I know from experience. Khao san will have a few bars selling beer but no whiskey.

Last year I noticed that the bars in the main areas (Chaing Mai) either shut or sold no alcohol, but alot of the little soi bars remained open, albiet with lights out as the one across the street from us did.
