Is AirAsia very strict on their policy to check-in for international flights, at least 45 minutes before departure ? Or would they let me in, even 30 minutes before departure ? :o

It is 45 minutes strict policy. Try 30 minutes if you like but you will not be allowed on the plane.

No Sir this is an absolute no no! It would take more than 20 minutes to get through emigration and security and it is a long walk to the Air Asia gates. You should allow at last 2 hours for safety. I have done it several times and never managed to get from check in to the gate in less than 30 mins!

agree with all in that yes, they are very strict.

the reason though is NOt the one Thaivisatravel suggests: ist simply that like most low-cost airls, the check-in staff leaves their desks at 45 mins prior, then goes to the gate-check: where they once again will greet you. Once I however managed to even check-in AFTER allotted dep-time: but then all their computers at Swampy were down and anything had to be done by hand-a big challenge-on return from Yangon the same happened-except that computers there never work and they were very used to man-handle it all!

You'd have to be really brave.. I've queued for an hour to get my passport stamped before. You'd want to check in a good 2 hours before even if you end up sitting around on the other side.

Errr, at Savanaboum check in clerks leave their desks to run to the gates? :D

Never seen that happen :o

Op mentioned international flight, please read.

Air Asia are very proud of their On Time Arrival Record. To do this they regularly depart early. It is not uncommon to be wheels up 15 minutes prior to the flight's advertised departure time.

Lesson: Get there early - as other posters have stated. I plan on arriving at an airport a minimum of 2 hours prior to departure. Better to have a drink do some shopping or reading at your departure gate, rather than taking the chance of missing your flight.

If they said at least 30 minutes before departure, would you want to check in 15 minutes before?

Why not do as most sensible people do and check in 2 hours before departure.

I regularly fly with RBA from BKK and it is usually the same TG check in girls that are at the departure gate.

Though I've not seen them run there.

Maybe they don't run but you do see the same staff who checked you in later on at the departure gates for international flights with Jet Star, Tiger etc.

There are reports that Tiger "are considering allowing passengers to check in after its 45-minute cut-off time if they are willing to pay an additional fee... in a bid to reduce the number of irate passengers being told they can't check in despite arriving at the terminal well before departure."

Air Asia are very proud of their On Time Arrival Record. To do this they regularly depart early??????????????????????????? :o

I've only ever been on ONE Air Asia flight that left on time out of the dozens of times I've flown with them. What am I doing wrong? :D

Not at swampy or LCCT KL. However they do that in most small airport where there are few flights a day.

Very strick. I once arrive 40 mins before departure. Have to buy a new ticket on the following flight.

PS. Watch out for AirAsia-X (long distance). Their min check in is 1 hours. I have seen people arguing with the AirAsia-X staff at LCCT-KL everyday (apparently they arrive betewwn 45 to 60 min before departure). In all cases, they have to buy new tickets. There is no AirAsia-X in Thailand yet. But they will come.

Swampy Air Asia check in girls go to aircraft, also being flite attendants, as is the case with many airlines.

Sometimes when just connecting flites and I am early, I ask at booking counter if it is possible to go on an earlier flite.

Often told to stay near booking counter, as there may be seats available.

If you are late, you are treated as a "No show".

I have been allocated seats about 30 mins before departure of a flite.

They try to fill their planes, logical.

If ya late, tuff cheese.

The upside is, no baggage weighing and you take all your bags into the cabin.

Deplane and walk straight out, great........... gotta.....

LOVE AIR ASIA

Their rules are very clear and you have to check the box to say you understand them. I think their website copes with back to back Air Asia flights and you cannot book connecting ones without enough time etc. but really, people need to stop bitching unless they are screwed over. Just arriving late or not leaving enough time is not an excuse.

I see counter personnel end up later down at the gate many times. Happens all the time when I fly out of LAX in the USA. I know I have seen China airlines people in BKK later down at the gate. Some have a fairly limitied flight schedule and this is routine. In addition, sometimes one person has better english speaking skills or other language skills so helps out at both ends. Never flew Air Asia yet, but have flown out of Thailand about 8 times now. I wouldn't count on 45 minutes for any flight! That new airport can require quite a hike to some of the terminals from passport checkin.

If you can only afford AirAsia, KILL YOURSELF!! They SUUUCCCCKKKKKKKK

As for International Flights 2 hours minimum, leaving on a long haul flight 3-4 hours. I would go back to Philippine Airlines before I fly AirAsia again. Only took one round trip to decide...
