I got my ballot on Friday and will send it off (with the correct person written in) on Monday. If you haven't got your ballot yet it is time to panic. Either way you vote, contact Democrats Abroad for help - maybe they can help. Or the consulate before October 23rd (they are taking a holiday until the 12th). Then hope that 1)You are able to vote, 2)that it will be delivered in a timely fashion and 3)that they use our votes if needed.

Got mine Thursday 2 Oct- sent it off same day.

I believe certain states allow you to fax the absentee ballot in, then send the hard copy by mail if you are close to the election date.

C'mon guys, it's bad enough having it plastered over the BBC site 24/7 and has about as much relevance to Muang Thai as does Timbuktu.

Still haven't sent your voter registration/ballot request? Membership in Dems Abroad, voting in the Global Primary, and working through the www.votefromabroad.org wizard online will not allow you to vote in the Nov. 4 General Election. You must register with your local election office associated with your US voting residence.

A. FAX your registration/ballot request form to 1 703 693 5527 to meet state deadlines in IL, NV, SC, AK, MS, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IN, KY LA, MT, OH, PA, TX, VA, WY (deadlines for the all former states today!), MO, TN, ID, NY and MD (deadlines within the next 8 days). Follow up by express mailing or couriering the hard copy of your registration/ballot request form, with the federal write-in absentee ballot (instructions—see para 3). Full list of state by state deadlines: http://www.democratsabroad.org/sites/all/m...amp;qid=2464183

B. If your state registration deadline falls after Oct. 14, it’s still imperative to send your voter registration/ballot request NOW.

C. ALL VOTERS who have not yet received an official state ballot (including those just now registering), complete the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot

What you need:

1. the 9-page VFA print-out, including the hard copy of the signed and dated voter registration/ballot request form which you have faxed to 1 703 693 5527.

2. TWO (2) envelopes. Address one to your local election official, address provided on p1 of the VFA print-out, item 3; return address is your mailing address abroad. The other is your ballot envelope, and must have no personally identifying information (hey, this is a secret ballot!)

What you do:

1. Read the instructions for all items.

2. You’ve signed, dated and faxed the voter registration/ballot request form (p. 4 of download), right? If not, do so. 1 703 693 5527

3. Complete the voter declaration/affirmation (p. 6 of printout). Sign and date; witness for some states—see below:

Alabama: 2 witnesses

Alaska: 1 witness

Arizona: Proof of Citizenship (copy of passport or driver’s license)

Louisiana: 2 witnesses

New York: 1 witness

N Carolina: 2 witnesses

S Carolina: 1 witness

Virginia: 1 witness

Wisconsin: 1 witness (include address of witness)

4. Fold these two items (voter registration/ballot request form and voter declaration/affirmation) & insert in the envelope addressed to your local election office.

5. Vote the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot. Two pages; most overseas voters will need only one, voting for

a. President

b. U.S. Senator

c. U.S. Representative (Delegate if you vote in DC)

6. To find the names of your Senate and House of Representatives, go to www.vote-smart.org; enter your zip+4; then record your preference on the write-in ballot.

7. Insert voted write-in ballot into blank envelope; seal and insert the ballot envelope in the outer envelope addressed to your local election official.

8. Delivery options: Mail (express recommended), consular pouch (may require that you supply US postage; may involve significant delays); courier (please be aware that FedEx is offering reduced fees (in many Asia-Pacific countries, free) from many countries. Visit Express Your Vote and follow the instructions to produce and print your air way bill (triplicate).

C. Already sent your registration/ballot request form?

Voters in some 20 states can verify registration status at http://www.democratsabroad.org/sites/all/m...amp;qid=2464183.

If you are registered, but have not sent the registration/ballot request form, FAX to 1 703 693 5527. Follow up by express mailing or couriering the hard copy.

If you are registered, but do not receive your state ballot by Oct. 15 (earlier if you are in an area where postal delivery to the US is slow and FedEx is not an option), then go to Sec. C above and complete all 8 steps.

Ensure that your ballot arrives by state ballot deadlines; also at http://www.democratsabroad.org/sites/all/m...amp;qid=2464183.

This is important to a few posters in the Chiang Mai area. However, non-US posters are getting messages in their PM boxes, and we need to stop talking so much about this. Please, no more new topics. Absentee voting is almost over. okay?
