This is the first time I did my 90 day report by mail. My 90 day check was do on 14 Oct. I mailed all the forms with return address envelope on Oct 7. As of Oct 19 still haven't received anything back from Immigrations. Should I be worried? I know I mailed all the correct paperwork required but don't know how slow immigrations are in returning my next 90 day report.

I usually complete my 90-day report by mail. The new 90-day reporting date is usually returned within a week. I would give your Immigration Office a telephone call to clarify your situation. Ask them if they have received your 90-day report and, if so, have they forwarded the new 90-day report to you. Depending on their reply you will know if you have cause for concern or otherwise.

I send my 90 day reports to Korat and they always come back about 7 days after the report date.

So do not worry yet.

I'd not worry as yet, I find that my mailed report often take three weeks for the return of the receipt, a couple times longer. Do hope, tho, that you did save the Thai PO registered or EMS receipt. That PO receipt includes the tracking number so you can check when it was received at Suan Plu, and show them that you did send it if it's actually lost.

Thanks for your replies. I just moved to this new home and the day I mailed my 90 day report I also mailed a letter to my new address which is about 13 km outside of Ratchaburi City to see if they could read my address in English. It took 4 days to get from the main post office to my home address.

I am in Bangkok. I mailed mine on September 24 and still have not received any notification from them. My report date is on October 25 but I mailed mine early because I am leaving Thailand on October 27. Do I have to go to Suan Plu office and report in person so that I have the bottom part of the TM 47 when I go to the airport on October 27?

You will not need it at the airport. This is not checked.

When/if you come back again your 90 days will start again from your day of return.

Sproket

24 September?? I'd think way too early, they might have trashed it. The open window is normally +-7 days.

25 Oct is Saturday and I believe not open then for 90-day report business. Did you keep a copy of the receipt that you mailed in? Hopefully so. And if so, I'd suggest going down to make the report in person, and explaining why you don't have the original, I'd think not a problem.

And, as another poster said, the 90-day reporting cycle starts over again at day one when you return, but they might check to see why you missed the 25 Oct date, just might, mind you.

The OP's report is due on the 25th and he is leaving on the 27th so doesn't his departure fall within the 7 day window.

No report needed?

You could well be right. Anyway he has posted it now. When he gets back he will find his receipt in the post box.

If the slip is not received by you within four weeks after sending in your 90-day report, send a TM47 form again, with a copy of the registered mail receipt of your first form, and a little note that you did send in in time but did not recive any reply, so you are not able to send in the original slip because it is already in their possession..

Make copies of everything, always.

And keep them in a safe place.

My advise, send all TM47 to Bangkok.

It is preferred by the Imm, why??????

And some offices want to see you in person if you want to notificate with them.

By sending to Bangkok, that little local wish is also out of the way.

EMS is not needed, Registered mail is enough.

Also trackable.

However, ever heard, so sorry, not arrived in THIS office?

Disagree. The immigration law states (art. 37 sub 5) that an alien must report if staying longer than 90 days. For the reporting there is a grace period, not for staying 90 days.

Got a question about this 90 day report deal. Can you do the first 90 day report by mail? Or do you have to physically go to an immigration office?

Just to kept the post updated. Today I got my 90 day notice back. They also sent a note in Thai (why Thai to a foreigner I have no idea) with one paragraph highlighted and next reporting date 11 Jan 09 which is a Sunday. Amazing Thailand.

Just to clarify a few points as this is my first report. Want to cover all bases

1. I can report by post to Bangkok?

2. Photocopies of Docs can they all be on the same page (ie. Passport /Visa /stamp)? or are seperate pagers required?

3 How many days prior to 90day date would you send (90 day report date -6/1/2009)?

4.Stapled or loose?

Thanks for any help.

1) I live in Bangkok and have read on ThaiVisa Forum that Immigration in Bangkok discourages posting the 90 day info to them. However I am away from Bangkok many times and so usually mail the report in anyway, with a return envelope to my address in Bangkok. They have never said anything about not accepting this. If I happen to be in Bangkok then I go to Immigration in person, which is not often.

2) I manage to get all of the different information they want on the front and back of a single sheet of paper for my wife, but need two sheets of paper for my own, using multiple passes through a copy machine if necessary. I also highlight the particular information they are looking for on each of the particular items copied to make it easier for them. They have never commented on this being a problem.

3) I send my report in via registered mail about 10 days before it is due. Some people use the more expensive EMS with it's tracking feature, but I feel this is overkill, because the receipt from the normal registered mail proves you sent it, in case Immigration didn't get it or they lost it somehow.

4)I staple my two sheets together and leave my wife's loose. They have never commented about this being a problem for them.

I am assuming you have read the details of what needs to be sent to them. Don't forget to use a 6.5" x 9" envelope to send the information to them. And also include a self addressed 6.5" x 9" envelope with a 10 Baht stamp on it. Put that envelope into the envelope sent to them along with all of your information. They will send all of your papers back to you with the 90 day receipt and an new form for using for the next mail-in.
