How do I go about extending my 90 day Visa non B? Do I return to Singapore to extend it or go to Bangkok or can I do it in Chiangmai? And what papers would I need for that? Google hasn't yielded any useful information on this.

2. Application for Visa

No, the company is still in the process of applying for a work permit.

If a work permit is a requirement to get a visa non B how on earth did I get my first one sans work permit in Singapore?

A work permit and other documents are required to obtain a 1 year extension at immigration.

You will need same documents that you used to get your existing visa to apply at at a consulate in a nearby contry for another single entry visa.

Hi I have all most the same problem like yours, If any one could kindly advise me on the following:

I am presently working with one company and my contract expires on 6th Nov. this year and I am going to discontinue working with them and I am going to work with another company. I want to keep my NON B visa active until my new employer get ready with the papers works to apply for my new wp and visa. They will take few weeks to get the things done so I am advised to extend my NON B visa for a month from the date of expiry...

I wonder I this could be done.... any one please help me....

If you are on an extension of stay the day you are out of a job your permission to stay is cancelled. You would only get an extension of stay for 7 days. If however you are married to a Thai national or have a child with Thai nationality you could get an extension of stay for 60 days.

Your new employer better start doing the paperwork right away. Maybe your old employer can give you some extra time, like give you an unpaid holliday for a month. After that month you get fired and than hopefully your new employer has its paperwork in order.

Do you go to the border every 90 days? Was your current visa obtained abroad? If so then your visa and entry stamp remain valid when you leave your job and hand in the work permit.

No longer required to turn in the WP. You just need to go to immigration with a letter from your employer stating when your employment is/will be terminated.

Don't confuse the poster; this is only required if you are on an Extension of Permission to Stay - which may well not be the Poster's case.

Who's confusing the poster if you advise him to do something he doesn't need to do?

You don't need to go to immigration if you are not on an extension.

btw can you please give me a link to an official Department of Labour document that explains why you no longer need to fill out a TT10 when you finish work and confirming that you are no longer subject to a fine for non-return of a work permit?

Sorry, I don't have a link to a Department of Labour document. Just the link to the law firm. But have seen others mention this as well.
Thanks; would be very interested to research any facts on this issue.

Allready answered above. You can only get an extension of your non-B for 7 days. If your new employer can't make it in time you will have to do a visa run and apply for a new non-B abroad.

You ex employer should not cancel your Work Permit and you should continue to pay tax and social security.

If you qualify for an extension with your new employer; then first they apply for a new work permit and then use the new company's papers plus your WP application receipt to apply for an Extension. There is a 'Catch 22' type problem in that your current extension is imeditately lost when your WP is cancelled and you need a work permit to apply for a new extension with your new employer; so timing is everything.

If your new job is in the same labour department area then you have a real problem, because you cannot hold two work permits at the same time. Here you need split-second timing or the approval of both companies to have the new companyy added to your WP using a WP7 (change details) application.
