LivinLOS - Thanks for your reply. You say you have "home made" Morroco maps? Can you please expand, what do you mean/how do you make home made maps, - this interests me as a newbie. Can you point me to any good websites that cover this.

Theres a huge homebrew mapping community doing all manner of things (one reason why I stick to garmins as they have larger market share) from marking speed cameras to mapping countries that dont have official maps.

If you start searching you can find all manner of things.

Sorry newbie here -

the data on the SD cards:

presume you then copy that onto the Garmin unit, as opposed to having to leave the SD card in the unit at all times?

Depends on how much storage the unit has.. Because I like to leave multiple map set on the device and switch between them, and as cards are so cheap these days I just buy a 2 or 4 gb card for each unit I use and start filling them up.. I like using one of my handheld ones for a good travel companion so its got most of SEA in it, the europe full package, UK and Ireland with speed camera alerts and some home made Morocco maps.. kinda insane whan you think about it.

As i said before, i am new to this GPS/SatNav malarky. I purchased from Amazon.uk a Garmin 760WT device, but as i am currently away from home and vehicle, not had the chance to fire it up. I am looking through the documents and cant see what size storage the unit has.

Power on your unit and hold down on the battery icon for about 10sec, this with bring up a new screen, The header on this screen will tell you the total storage cap of your unit, I believe Nuvi 760 wt is 2gb, you then have to subtract the progaming software, What is left will be your starage cap. Should be around 1.7gb.+/-
