Can anyone pIease advice what may be best regarding my passport when I have onIy 4 pages remaining?

My first query is whither there wiII be any probIems with my going to Iaos for another 2x TV and then coming back to ThaiIand with so few pages, or can i be refused? If that scenario is ok, I wiII then appIy for a new passport at the British Embassy. But what happens regarding my 2xTV and entry stamp? Is the document moved over?

Or, as I have just over 3 weeks remaining before I have to Ieave, shouId i appIy for the new passport now? (But, I had hoped to finaIIy get away for a few days to the south, as ive never been. Of course my passport is priority, so wiII forgo the trip if there may be any possibIe probIems). Again, in this case too, what happens regarding the current entry stamp, etc?

Thank you kindIy!

I don't see a problem. 1 page for Lao visa and 1 page for tourist visa. Plenty of room left for entry/exit stamps.

After you get your new passport immigration will move your entry and permit to stay stamps but not your visa. You wiil need to use both passports when you make a border run for your 2nd entry. When you come back show them the visa in your old passport.

Oh thank you ubonjoe, especiaIIy for such a prompt repIy/

I had thought they wouId retain the oId passport.

Edit: maybe sounds siIIy, but wiII having the two passports make it more problematic for me? Ie: My passport is reaIIy messy with stamps, wiII immigration be more cynicaI (if thats even possibIe! :o) ..and if i traveI within ThaiIand, wiII i need to aIways take both? Might be a bit of a hassIe if that is the case.

They won't keep your old passport they mark it as invalid and cut off a corner. But they are carefull not to damage any valid visas.

Edit: If you go to immigration and get your permit to stay moved you wouldn't need to carry both.

oh really! Wow.

So i just turn up at a regular working day at my local immigration to have the permit moved to the new passport? Sorry if it sounds like i need hand-holding, just want to make sure i do the correct thing regarding my passport and visa! I had NO idea about that. Thank you so much!

That's right just to to immigration and get the entry and permit to stay stamps moved.

Just remember to take your old passport when you do your border run after 90 days.

When you apply for a new passport, the old one will be retained, but will be returned with your new passport.

The clerk at the embassy will give you a photocopy of your passport photo page and the page with your visa and TM card.

Stamped with British Embassy stamp.

Renewed my passport in October, took about 8 days including posting to Ubon.

I have THREE pages left in my passport. Off to Laos next week for my non O, so when I'm back will be on my last page.

Call this a silly question but my UK passport has 32 pages and I'm assuming the back page, 28, is good for visas and stamps.

Otherwise I'm buggered!

You may have a problem, in my old (32 page) passport the last page is for emergency contact details, in my new (48 page) passport the last page is marked "reserved for official observations" and cannot be used for stamps :o

Yeah but I reckon you've got the older type of passport. In the latest one, there's a computer chip on the page at the back of the photo page, which is reserved for official observations. Page 28 of my current one is the same as all the others and has no writing on it.
