Smithson
Hi Joey, I'll try and help, but I don't know that much. So far I haven't had any trouble with pests, however, if I was to use sprays it would avoid the really toxic ones. A simple mixture is garlic, chilli and detergent which are left to soak for a couple of weeks and then sprayed. We bought some Efficient Microorganisms (EM) that included a recipe for insect repellent. One of the ingredients is the Thai 'white whiskey' (lao Kao), so I imagine the stuff is pretty deadly! It's common in hydro set ups to be in screen houses that prevent the entry of insects. For a small set up I was thinking about hanging a large mosquito net to cover things up. Not sure how viable it is, just an idea.
