Besides all the sexual information that you give to youngsters, there is on you must give this utmost important warning.

You not only have sex with your present partner but also with all the previous partners he or she made with, and also that partner partners and their partners partners. In short the number of people who could give you an HIV infections can be hundreds if not thousands, so not only the one who at present share your bed with.

That's why should be very carefully to make with anybody you feel attractive on, and if you decide to make, use at least a condom, and afterwords clean yourself very good. And if you like to wait because you like to start a serious relationship ask him/her to make an HIV test and do it yourself also if you are not sure about your last sexperiment.

Lucky my youth was during the make love not war era, and I still feel very lucky with it, because I'm sure I will be a candidate for HIV if I was in my Twenties again in this HIV era.

And in the late 60's and early 70's we did not have porn, so don't blame it on that. Young adults always had and will have strong urges and needs for sex its part of being young.

before the pill I remember many times friends looked very pail a few days, because their girlfriend was overdue. For myself I had one time to get infected by a SOA after spending a holldiday on the French Riviera and meeting a few beautiful Morrocan sisters who where infected with Gonnorhea, till now I don't know yet witch one :o

Oh my god those where the day's.

I don't have childtren so I can not imagion the fears of parents who have. thank god for that also.

if i'm not using condoms i ensure my current partner and I got a full health check before unprotected sex nothing unusual about that these days and a very small price to pay for peace of mind, with the multipiler effect of previous partners it should be the norm and free!

Article may have hit some bad cylinders.

Let's call a spade a spade. Thai guys in their early 20s are predatory bottom dwellers. They easily manage to get 14-15+ year old girls to do the horizontal bop, then bail at the first opportunity. Pregnancy, STDs, HIV, and all other social diseases are passed around like candy. Lots of those guys doing the nasty are bi as well. This really is the new Thai norm, and it is growing by leaps and bounds.

What someone needs to do is teach the girls how to say NO. (Right) Then, if no doesn't work, teach them how to administer the latex.

Yes, just a scratch beneath the Thai talk of morals is the lurking reality of men and boys doing all they can to seduce vulnerable girls. Granted, it's an age old game, but it's quite easy one to play (and get away with) in Thailand. There is almost a total lack of repercussions for men who date rape here.

Several times a year, when driving home at night, I pass by a house or a field where there's a big boisterous party going on. On the dark fringes are young girls, unattended by parents (who are probably drunk and non-functional), but pursued by men. There's alcohol, loud music, and much deflowering. The preying men have all sorts of ways to skirt responsibility.

I have several daughters, most of whom were sired by former husbands of the women I was steady with. Talking about proper sexual attitudes with kids is not easy - but is necessary. Parents in general, and Thai parents in particular often have trouble doing so. Parents need to learn how to maturely broach this important topic with their kids. Not only telling girls about prudence, but telling boys of the serious consequences of messing up another person's life. Unfortunately, in Thailand there is scant little deterrent for boys and men to date rape and destroy girls' lives.

A lot is being made of teenage girls being 'victims,' but I'd like to speak up on their behalf as human beings who might WANT to have sex. In that case, knowledge of how to protect themselves is essential to their wellbeing (and good practice for a lifetime of self-care). No doubt the boys are frequently predatory, but I think this whole 'black and white' attitude is a little hysterical.

If anyone wants to continue the 'circumcision' side topic, I will probably snip it into the health forum, as it is off-topic here.

Garbage.

Porn has nothing to do with it. They are getting HIV because the older Thai men who have HIV are giving it to them. There is no hiding that older Thai men have sex with very young girls. My ladies brother was telling me some spots for Thais only that have girls as young as 12 in them and it's accepted that the Thai men do not wear condoms. A Thai friends cousin is 14 and works in a bar in Si Racha, he said it's the norm. I've personally seen a park in Udon Thani were young school girls hang out to get a trick with an older Thai male so they can get some cash. It's all over Thailand. And shall we talk about the countless "gay for pay" Thai boys who are also sleeping with younger girls? Or how about the girls who go to the karaoke bars to pay the same "gay for pay" Thai men to have sex with them, almost always with a condom. Then there is just good old fashioned kids having sex.

Blaming this in porno is complete ignorance.

I also don't see any relation between watching porn and HIV, unless they want to say that porn encourages girls to have sex at a younger age, and therefore increases the risk on becoming HIV infected. I think this is not proven, and even it would be true I think the impact on the spread of HIV would be minimal.

Very strange article.

thanks for telling it straight. You'd never get a posting like that from a Thai, even though most Thais over the age of 15 probably know it's true.

I spoke with a Thai woman who was in the sex biz years ago - when the phrase HIV - AIDS was first heard in this part of the world. She said Thai men never wore condoms, and when asked, would use all their charm and skills at persuasion to avoid using condoms. In contrast, some of her farang customers would put on condoms before even being asked - indeed, some would even bring their own condoms to the scene. The long lasting attitude among the sex workers (an idea strongly reinforced by their Thai customers) was: 'farang put on condoms because they're infected with something.' Using the same logic, the workers fully believed that Thai men don't put on condoms because they're simply not infected. Plain and simple.
