Who Pulls The Constitutional Court's Strings?

Featured Replies

Everytime something goes wrong with a Prime Minister or something it seems like the courts have the final say. I am very curious to see who pulls their strings? Why are they not overridden? Why are the courts not besieged by angry mobs dissatisfied by their rulings?

What stops the current PM from refusing to acknowledge a court's ruling? Do the courts have the backing of the Army or what?

Thai courts in the past have had a dubious reputation at best. The former PM Taksin was purportedly good at manipulating them, however it appears they have of late had a sudden change of heart and are now pursuing Taksin and anyone associated with a vigor and gusto never before witnessed or likely to be witnessed again. You would aslo note that same courts viewed that the PAD was doing nothing illegal, ie carrying arms, beating and killing people, taking over Government House and closing airports. However they did dismis one PM for doing a cooking show, which no one here doubts as a far more serious crime.

The current constitution was written by the army and passed at a "vote yes or no more elections" referendum. You can form your own opinion over what groups in society it favors. However since this new constitution the courts are rigorously enforcing it.

There is a grouping of conflicting influences at the moment, however you will need to do your own reading to figure that one out. You will not find many answers on this forum, just irrational outpourings.

I don't know which Court will judge Anupong for not clearing PAD from Suvarnabhumi. This is the indirect support. He can use nice talks to cover his act but the most stupid people will understand why.

Let me see which Court will judge PAD or mei pen rai (no problem) again.

Sadly, they don't appear to be a very 'independent' judiciary.

LOL

The Constitution pulls the strings ... followed by the people that put cases in front of them.

Are we discussing the PPP dissolution? Where a party exec was caught on film paying someone off?

The "PAD" can do no wrong concept that gravelrash has put forward is rather ludicrous. One court issues an order to leave (a civil court), another court is appealed to etc ....

or like Scott, are we lumping all courts into one category?

Sorry guys, but we have to stop this discussion. This issue could be dangerous for us.

Thanks for undertstanding.
