I am in Canada at the moment and need to get a new passport as my current one expires in March 2009. But my NOn-Imm B which expires in febuary and my re entry permit are in there. What is done in this situation? Can you travel with two passports from the same country?

Yes

Use your old passport to re-enter Thailand and when checking in for your flight.

I thought when you enter Thailand your passport cannot expire within the next 6 months, also don't they stamp void all over your old passport?

After you renew your passport, you should get the old one back. Then go to the embassy/consulate and let them tranfer the visa to you new passport.

Your Visa and Re Entry Permit are still valid.

When you enter you can show them both your passports. They will look at the old one and stamp the new one.

Its not a problem becasue you also have a new passport. The re-entry permit in your old passport will still be valid even though your passport will be stamped as void because a new passport was issued.

Immigration will stamp your permit to stay in your new passport.

If you wish to or plan on traveling again you can go to immigration and have every thing transfered over to your new passport after you get back. Or you can just wait until you renew your extension.

Lite Beer, does he have to transfer his old visa and permit in Canada at a Thai consulate/embassy (would they even do that there?) or as you say can he enter Thailand using both passports, get the stamp in the new one, and transfer the visa and permit to the new passport IN Thailand? The OP poses an interesting question I haven't heard before (updating passport with visa outside Thailand).

Visas cannot be transferred to new passport only only permission to stay stamps can.

I have never heard of Embassies overseas doing this. There is no need to anyway as he can just carry the two passports.

My case is a little bit different and I need your advice.

My old Passport (valid until 2012) was full of stamps in all pages and I had to get a new one, which I already have.

Since I have to

Is it enough to carry the two passports to show the entries in Thailand (on my last visa run to Cambodia) or I need to go first to the local Immigration (Bangkok) for the stamps transfer to the new Passport? :o

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Visas are issued under the authority of the Minstry of Foreign Affairs at embassies and consulates outside of Thailand. Extensions of stay are issued under the authority of the Ministry of the Interior via the Immigration Bureau of the Royal Thai Police inside Thailand. Immigration doesn't do anything with visas and embassies don't do anything with extensions of stay. The OP should re-enter Thailand with both passports - it's not a problem that your valid visa is in an expired/cancelled passport as long as you have a valid replacement passport.
