Hi,

I am currently searching for an excellent surgeon which could do Rhinoplasty, Chin Argumentaion and Blepharoplasty. I have been seaching for 6 months now, including e-mails, overseas phonecalls, surfing the web and even reading articles. Few came in mind but as research went deeper, disappointment came along with it (e.g. bad tesimonials from patients, doctor's inconpetency to answer my queries, back-dated techniques etc).

I have since booked my flight to Bangkok this weekend, ideally for consultation and surgery and rest over the week and back to work the following week. I would very much like to hear the opinions from forum members on some issues;

1. What is your take on the following Clinics/Hospitals and Surgeons? Such as experience, techniques update, excellent jobs, professionalism,

artistic talent...etc

- Yanhee International Hospital (?)

- Phyathai Hospital (Dr. Sriprasit )

- Kasemrad Cosmetic Surgery Centre (Dr. Dr. Somsak Kunachakr)

- Vejthani International Hospital (?)

- Bumrungrad International Hospital (Dr. Preeyaphas Nilubol/ Dr. Sorawuth Chu-Ongsakul)

- Bangkok Plastic Surgery Centre (Dr. Pichet)

- Yoskarm Clinic (Dr. Somyos Kunachak)

- SP Clinic (Dr.Sompob Sansiri)

-Preecha Aesthetic Institute(PAI) (Dr. Preecha)

I was initially recommended to Dr. Pichet and found him quite comfortable but a little pushy. And read all the loads of testimonials and his lovable staffs.

But abit over to the top and a handful of bad testimonials but most worrying is his competency, techniques and professionalism.

After that Dr. Somsak was recommended but for weeks I couldnt get hold to talk to him or find any substaintial infomation and credibility about him.

Bumrungrad and Vejthani Hospital was then recommended with few recommended surgeons, but I was put through plenty of nurses before I could speak

to the doctors but not for long and emails take weeks to be replied, not by doctors but patient service. I dont have a comfortable feel as I think a

personal touch by doctors/nurses should not be lacking.

For price, that is not my primary concern though I have a limitation. Bumrungrad and Yoskarm are the pricey ones, the rest are more or less the same.

So if you guys would be so kind to give your 2 cents worth, I will be more than glad to hear your constructive views.

2. As read from an article, to slim noses, a wedge of tissue is removed from the base of the nose and the nostril floor as well as some fatty tissue from the

nose tip. This is done either through closed incisions within the nostrils or via a tiny incision made at the bottom of the nose. One of the problems is that

over time, a "capsule" or fibrous sheath develops around the implant making the tip bulky or crooked.

To slim and define tips SURGEON reshape patient own natural cartilages and reinforce with additional cartilage from the inner nose or the ear. This complex

procedure takes longer but results are aesthetically pleasing with no capsule. Moreover, the tip will gradually become softer and more natural. Over

thinning the skin damages the delicate circulation and results in swelling and prolonged recovery.

Is there any surgeon in Bangkok capable of acomplishing this? Or has anyone surgically done this? Please recommend?

3. What is the proficiency level, skills and techniques of Plastic Surgery and surgeons in Thailand as compared to Japan and Singapore?

Just some constructive discussion especially those of whom had done surgeries in countries.

Thanks all :o

BTW the communication difficulties you have been having, while very annoying, are absolutely typical here and do not necessarily reflect upon the dcotor or the quality of care. In most places it seems that emails go to administrative staff who then contact a nurse who asks a doctor who tells the nurse who tells the clerk who then answers your email (with lots gfetting garbled in the process) -- if the clerk gets up the nerve top "bother": the medical staff at all.

In some cases they seem to simply ignore emails, especially if they do not understand what it asked. Not only hospitals but Thai businesses as well. It's just the way it is here, at least with regard to emails in English. As for phone calls, the people who answer the phones and the nursing staff are expected to prevent the doctors from being bothered unnecessarily (that part is actually true in many western countries as well) and unless the doctor is expecting your call it is often difficult to impossible to get through.

My point being, do nopt let that shade your opinion, you may encounter such problems and get find the doctor, once you meet him, attentive enough.

Best tio have a number of face to face consultations with the variousd doctors you rae considering, if possible.

Hi Sheryl,

Thanks for the useful infomation, I have read through all the posts.

What will be helpful will be updates from those that had their surgery with the respective doctors.
