Prescriptions in Australia are generally for 5 or 6 quantities of 10gm, perhaps more, with a similar limit of 30 grams a month. In a low use situation, this means that a script could last 3-4 months or more. Thailand's 30 day prescription is going to force users to the doctor too often, more than necessary given that weed is going to be prescribed for chronic rather than acute cases. If medical weed goes the way it has in Australia, it will simply become a means for recreational users to obtain it on medical grounds. -

Thai Mother Asks Police to Arrest Her Son Over Drug Addiction
A desperate Thai mother in Sa Kaeo pleaded on Facebook for police to arrest her drug-addicted son after he traded durians she bought him for yaba (meth). Her emotional post went viral, prompting authorities to arrest the local dealer, Sao Praditsri, who was found with 90 yaba pills. Report Cannabis Chaos: 12,000 Thai Shops Face Closure Under New Rules
Thailand: The land of invented data. When did 12,000 cannabis shops appear? weed.th says there are 10,760, BBC quoted government data when it recently said approx. 11,000 cannabis shops. Bangkok Post uses 18,000. Big F in deal if some close. Most are not viable business operations. They exist for criminal purposes, such as money laundering. There will still be shops, because there will still be a customer base. This is just a vested interest group playing the sympathy card. -
