No thread for the biggest Club in the Country's second biggest City so we might aswell start one..

Could they break the Top 4 & more specifically, finish above Arsenal ??

With last night's luck, they just might do & i hope they do, the can be scary coming forward at times..

I can tell you Milners crap, he started his career at Newcastle as an average young right midfielder with no pace, no tricks, an inability to cross a ball, and a weak shot but would give 100%, after 4 years he hadnt improved one bit.

i rate milner. decent young player with stacks of experience for his age.

on the villa, if they stay lucky with injuries they might break the top four this season. o'neill's just signed really sensibly since he's gone there, sorted out the defence and goalkeeper and signed pace and flair in ashley young.

He's a million times better than what we've currently got...

incidentally, doesn't that say rather more about newcastle and its coaching staff than it does about milner? he's only been at villa six months but martin o'neill has got him into the england set-up.

He didn't start his career at Newcastle, he was at Leeds before, and was part of the fire sale when the shit hit the fan with their finances.

Yep we can ruin the career of the best young players through our coaching, but Milner was/is never going to be more then at best a reliably average player.

Yes but he did also start his Newcastle career at one time, Agbondalahor looks good though.

same youth team as aaron lennon wasn't it? could be said that neither of them has fulfilled their potential, but milner's at least pretty steady and reasonably consistent. lennon's like a shopping trolley with a wonky wheel.

Agbonglahor does look good but, with a 'boat' like that,he's definitely on my short list for my Ugly Eleven. :o

I rate him thoguh Agbonlahor, i really rate Young too & for me, Milner's good enough & hard working & an all round decent enough Player..

& Spiderman, surely you can't strt a Career twice can you, like you said Milner did ?? :D

So anyway, anyone think they could finish 4th this year ??

Villa boss denies making bid for striker Defoe

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has dismissed reports he has bid for Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe.

Empics

Defoe is a wanted man this January.

O'Neill is keen to strengthen his squad next month but stressed he has not yet made any offers to clubs for players.

O'Neill said: ''We have not enquired about any player at the moment so this idea we have bid zillions for some particular player is simply untrue.

''Obviously we are looking to improve the squad. The team has done phenomenally well but they have been on the go competitively since the middle of July.

''If you are trying to make progress in the Premiership, the FA Cup or the UEFA Cup then obviously we have got to have a look at players.

''But this idea that we are going to put bids in left, right and centre is nonsense.''

O'Neill is considering just where his squad needs strengthening, and he added: ''The transfer window is just around the corner and is an opportunity.

''It is the chance to look at your squad and see what you need.''

i'd be amazed if o'neill isn't begging randy lerner (great name that, sounds like a teenager trying to get laid for the first time) to sign emile heskey in this transfer window.

Yes.

They have a nice balance of players, but they need a little more depth, and for certain a real striker. Other than that, they are a very decent side, that play to a plan. O'Neil IMO is a very good manager, who doeesn't even need to spend big, big bucks to put out a competitive side.

BTW, I'm pissed, so Happy New Year to you all. :D

Villa are looking like a really good side and that shows through their league position. I really hope that they break into the top 4 and I hope that they do it at the Goons expense! O'Neill is a good manager and has bought well. Ashley Young was a brilliant buy. Spurs should have got O'Neill in when they had the chance a few years ago.

I agree with spiderman2. Milner is average. He hasn't scored a Premier League goal for Villa this season and there is no way that he is good enough for England. When Villa offered 10Million for him, I thought it was great business for Newcastle. Unfortunately, Keegan and the majority of the Toon Army didn't agree and this was the catalyst for the hate campaign against Ashley and Wise to begin.

As for Villa, they've been a bit fortunate lately, but have continued to pick up points when they haven't played well. If O'Neill can add 2 or 3 quality players in the transfer window then I don't see why they can't finish in the top 4.

If only but don't worry, you've got Harry now, he'll do alright for you..Bwahahahaha.. :o

Good win for Villa last night, scrappy, not very pretty but a win none the less..
