December 22, 200421 yr Everywhere I go there's "extra-white" and "super-whitening". Now, I'm pale enough that I don't think you could make me any whiter if you tried, but I'm just a little concerned about the nasty things these products could be doing to my skin. Any places you can go to get a good variety of non-whitening skin care products?
December 23, 200421 yr Author I don't think any of those "whitening" things do much, anyway. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really a matter of if they're effective at whitening but quite a number of them are actually toxic and skin damaging. I just want plain facial cleansers, and moisturisers, and stuff. Nothing to bleach me!
December 23, 200421 yr Try Boots or if you have too much extra money on your hands, The Body Shop is in most malls and department stores.

Nothing to bleach me! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whitening products with bleaching agents are indeed very harmfull for the body. Those products are becoming rare over the years. The 'normal' whitening products contain agents which are reducing the formation of melanine in the skin. This is a natural way to 'lighten' the skin. It will not actualy whiten the skin but will avoid a darker complexion in the future. Example of a good whitening agent is licorice. Many products without those agents are available. this include cleansers, toners, face masks and moisturisers. Let me know by PM if I can advise any products. My knowledge concerning this subject is due to the fact that I own a spa in bangkok and all our products are locally researched and manufactured at a laboratorium in Bangkok.

December 29, 200421 yr Watson's and Tesco are pretty good too. I've found that I need to look at all labels to make sure they're not whitening. Chok dee.

August 2, 200520 yr Author i might be mistaken but try oil of olay! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, this topic has been dead for ages... just as well I subscribed to the topic! I've settled on baby skin care products as they're really mild and don't tend to have as many unneccessary ingredients like perfume or whitening things.
August 2, 200520 yr A friend of mine accidentally bought a facewash was with a whitener in it. Didn't notice anything different until a few weeks later and a visit to the island. She now has weird brown patches all over her forhead. Maybe one of those chemicals that lighten your skin have a dodgy reaction to sunlight? Maybe that's why the Thai ladies always cover up before going in the sun Edited August 2, 200520 yr by Kerry
August 2, 200520 yr Actually, my understanding of the whitening products is that they can remove the top layer of skin cells thus effecting a whiter look (depends on the ingredients tho). I have found olay has some products that aren't whitening, nivea seems to be about the worst tho. L'oreal also has some good non-whitening face washes. watsons or boots should have a good range though.
August 2, 200520 yr Any places you can go to get a good variety of non-whitening skin care products? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe you can try NuSkin? I don't know if they have any "whitener" product but they tend to stress their products are chemicals-free and contain only natural ingredients, with the famous "all of the good, none of the bad" copy/philosophy (though it does contain preservative substance). I, my wife and my parents all used to be a good customer of NuSkin products but we gave up using it after the '97 crisis as the price went up so high (almost B500 for shampoo bottle before the crisis). It is Amway like direct, multi-level marketing distribution so you can only buy the product from a "distributor" or else sign up to become one yourself. You can find an outlets at SCB Park and inside Silom Complex (BTS Saladaeng station), if they are still there.
