He wants to by a new motorbike in his name the dealer as told him not possible, i mentioned i've heard of a resident confirmation letter available from Immagration & this can confirm is address does anyone know if this is helps for this kind of purchase & what documents & fee's required.

Generally you need a Non Imm visa to get the letter.

Much easier if immigration has already granted an extension, then he will be on their records.

The letter is free.

PS I hope his landlord registered his arrival, or he will stir a little can of worms on that subject.

Thanks Guys, i take it this is excepted for major purchases such as a car, or is it hit & miss as to wheather the business your dealing with understands this certicate i think many small motorbike dealers may not want to know & insist on the G/F name being used, anyone any experance on useing this.

I personlly have everthing in my G/F name been together 2 years so i've not been taken for a ride, but this guy i can tell seems worried about not having everything in his name, i asked him why he didn'nt check this out before parting any cash i told him about TV but he doesn't use the net.

I,ve looked up to refresh my memory the best way of securing a house as he as already started building this even before he saw issarn never mind the village, he takes chances more than me lol, he as tracked me down he says to pick my brain :o but its raised my thoughts again about applying for a usufruct which is what i'm going to give him the basics on.

I read some good topics last night, but theres one question i have, the way i see it the usufruct can secure you for living in the premises for life but what if theres a dispute as the owner of the land in most cases is your wife/girlfriend so if she wants you out because of relationship problems does this still give you powers to make her sell the property or is it just secuity for a roof over your head this i'd be happy with as the money i've spent so far is hers & i'm happy with that & this was also the main fear of this guy.

I told him what you spend in Thailand stays in Thailand well in most cases.

Not sure but its unlikly as like myself is G/F or he new nothing of this 24hr reporting law, i found out about this a few weeks ago from another post.

We would have to report to are local police station which i feel would not know what we needed to do,but if we had reported what if anything are we given to prove we reported, to show immagration.

Also if you do boader runs every 90 days i take it you have to report everytime you come back home.

So if i go to Muckdahan for this certificate without having reported what are the conceqences? being Thailand it would involve parting with some cash, but are there more serious problems.

This entire thing on address reporting is for all intents and purposes is not enforced.

Reporting by hotels, guesthouses, apartments and other commercial ventures are required to report but that is a different thing all together.

When you return and fill out your TM6 (arrival card) they normally consider that a report of your address.

To get a residnece certificate you normally need some kind of proof of your address which can be hard to prove for some. A lease/rental contract is the most commonly used proof.

Thanks ubonjoe

Yes it does'nt make sence this reporting when your on a visa as you always put your address details on the TM 6.

I suppose its just the jobs worth kind in immagration that enforce this, or in areas were money can be made from many unwiting falang in the holiday towns but here in sleepy issarn i doubt they bother.

I was lucky enough to have UBC main agent in the city use my passport for the contract 18 months ago so the bills all come to in my name to our address, its the only thing i have that shows the address, wheather this would help i don't know, but would a statement from the police or the village head also be of help.

Other than a usufruct, yellow tabeen baan or lease etc theres not many ways i can think of to show proof esspecilly if your not married.

A person could make up a lease contract between them and their girl friend. Blank lease contracts are available in office suplly/stationary stores and some book shops.

A statement from a girl friend would might even work stating that an individual is living in her house. Then just show her house book.

But your UBC bill could be used.

If you have a bank account they can give you a statement with your address on.

Or get a letter from the local Police or Phu Yai Baan if they know you.

Yes i bank with Bangkok Bank & if they print a statement that should show my address, so with this, the UBC bills & my G/F statement there shouldn't be a problem its worth a try.

My main thing is to set up a usufruct & get a yellow tabien baan this would solve everything.

I feel a little more confident now passing on some of this info to the new guy in town.

Many Thanks Shaun

This is a general rule with the Land Transport Dept for all vehicles, and driving licences.

I am aware that in some tourist areas the rules can be bent a little........ :o
