Surat Thani hit by floods

SURAT THANI: -- Several roads in Surat Thani's downtown were inundated Saturday following six hours of torrential rains.

The by-pass road linking Surat Thani to the Samui ferry pier was also under nearly-1-metre-high water.

Officials said about 200 houses were partially flooded.

The flooding also caused severe traffic congestion in the province.
