track61
I live around 90kms NW of Korat and I'm pretty sure that it is not my imagination that the mango trees on and around my place have many more flowers this year than last. I mean, the trees are about 30% green and 70% whatever the flower color is. This is only my second year around here but I lived between Rayong and Ban Phe for 6 years and never noticed the trees so loaded. Am I off base here. The locals are telling me this means it will be a good "raining" year and I'm thinking hel_l, 30% of the rice drowned last year.Any thoughts? Lickey
Our trees are also full with bloom, no flowers yet, but its a good sign, have a look above the flowers, are there any small green mangos forming there? I just hope that there is no strong winds and storms at the end of March, last year it took away lots of flowers from the fruit trees. My plan is to make some Mango & Tamarind pickle this year, and of course mango smoothies, Cheers, Lickey..
pete_r
Lots of mango flowers in Bangkok too since middle of December. Maybe because of the cooler than usual winter?
