Hello all,

I have read somewhere, either on TV or somewhere else, can't really find this info now, about penalties for Thai citizens when they accept another citizenship. The penalties were such as loss of privilege to own a land in Thailand and ability to vote amongst other things. I don't remember if this post also stated that such person has to renounce Thai citizenship for those penalties to be effective. Maybe I'm wrong and I have totally misunderstood the information.

So my question is, Is it really true? If I were to marry a Thai citizen, live abroad together and help her become citizen, and than retire in Thailand, will she be able to buy land and such? Will her dual citizenship affect her somehow? If so, would renouncing foreign citizenship make it "all right" again?

If this post is in wrong forum, I apologize.

Regards, Bartek.

I'm sure there are some gurus on here that will give you better advice but I've never heard of this before. I don't believe it to be true.

Absolutely untrue. A Thai can hold dual nationality. And there are no restrictions on land purchases.

At one time just being married to a farang kept a woman from buying land but that was also changed several years ago.
