Does Tot Have An Internet Service Plan That Works?

Featured Replies

I recently moved from a condo where I had TT&T internet to one where the only available lines were from TOT (I don't know why that is, but I'm stuck with it). As bad as TT&T was, TOT is far worse; sometimes I can't connect at all, once connected I am frequently disconnected, and when I manage to stay connected the service is very slow. I had similar problems with TT&T which were largely solved by switching to a service plan with a lower contention ratio, I paid extra for a slower connection but with fewer other customers using the connection. I don't really understand how that works, but my service improved considerably. Unfortunately I can't find a similar plan from TOT's website or customer service, so I'll turn to ThaiVisa; does anyone know if TOT has an internet service plan with a lower contention ratio, or any other plan that will work? My top priority is stability, fast is nice, but mostly I want to stay connected. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone knows how to get reliable internet service in Chiang Mai, please reply.

I am in Na Jomtien,so don't know for Chiang Mai but

-I am stuck with ToT too

-had 1mb/512 k ADSL.veeeeery slow so went back for 2 years to 256k/128k.At least it was only sloooow

-last month I upgraded to 2mb/512k;miracle dowload is always between 1mb and 2,1 mb :o

But the first days were a nightmare;no speed, disconection during 12h a day.GF phoned them everyday.was ready to take a GPRS solution on my mobile(tot wanted a 1 year contract...).But finally patience paid

That's what I have right now with Torrent going 35 kb/s download and 30kb/s upload

"patience paid"?

Congratulations on getting a semblance of service you can live with, but I don't want to wait and pay for nonexistent service in the hope that someday it will get better.

I called TOT customer service and repeatedly asked if they had a service plan that would work better. The lady repeatedly ignored my question and kept saying that a technician would check the line. From reading other threads on TOT I gather that is their standard blow-off. I'm going to ditch TOT as soon as I can find an ISP that actually provides internet service.

I am about 10K outside Roi Et and recently signed up withn TOT. We found it impossibole to deal with them over the phone, but things went very smoothly when we visited the Roi Et TOT office. I now have a 2mb/1mb connection, and get 1-1.5mb download speed consistently - better than I expected. They made a new phone connection to the house for free and I get B750 free phone calls a month. The contract is for 12 months and costs B1000/month. On the face of it this seems a good deal, and so far I am very pleased.... hope it lasts!
