I would like to bring my Thai girlfriend to Canada but am finding it next to impossible to get any solid info on what I and she need to have and do. I work full time and own my own house. She has a passport and works full time in a bar.I want her to come for two months over Christmas. Does working at a bar count as actual employment for a Thai lady? Does she have to go to the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok? If anyone who is familiar with Canada Visa policies for Thai ladies reads this, or knows anything about similiar situations PLEASE help me out.

Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will definately need to go to the Canadian Embassy. They should have a web site where you can obtain information and possibly where you can download the necessary forms.

What the embassy needs to ensure is that visitors entering their country are there strictly for holiday reasons. They don't want people working without a work visa and they don't want to have to chase those people who overstay their visas.

In other words,  those on a tourist visa must adhere strictly with the conditions of their visa and leave the country at the required time.

A bar girl will be regarded as a prostitute by the embassy.  Without a history of employment credentials it will be difficult to convince the embassy that your relationship and intentions are genuine.

Many bar girls have had some experience working in factories before taking up the easy life. You may need to provide evidence of past employment to the embassy.

Good luck.

Canadian Visa Office in Bangkok is very tough on applicants. Apart from a good steady job evidence of a self generated bank account and property ownership will likely be required. My advice is dont waste your time if your GF does not have the above
