Hi all,

We're staying for a five nights in Khao Sok NP and have the choice of flying into Phuket or Krabi from BKK.

Thinking of picking up a car/truck and just wondered what the easier drive up to there would be i.e. Krabi to Khao Sok or Phuket to Khao Sok (and any idea of times, I was thinking it would take about 2 hours).

Ummm.. really not that much difference in distance, maybe less from Phuket ??, but the roads are much better from Phuket airport most of the way to Khao Sok, and you will have more car hire choices at Phuket airport. 2 hours is a good estimate. Also many more flight options to/from Phuket. Krabi has few flights to BBK per day.

Distance to Khao Sok from Phuket airport is about 150 KM, more likely it would take you about 3 hours, you have to pass through several population centers, and the last part of the drive is hilly. Coming from Phuket drive across the bridge, keep going straight on through Khokkloy, Thai Meuang, Khao Lak and Takua Pa. A few kilometers past Takua Pa there is a junction, where you go straight on towards Surat Thani, and not left towards Ranong.

Going to Khao Sok from Krabi would take considerably longer.
