Some immigration offices ask for a map showing the way from the immigration office to your house. Maps.google.com is good for creating and printing this map.

If you have been on a retirement visa Non Imm O-A that was valid for one year you will be changing to a Non Imm O and extension based on marriage to a Thai.

You will need two (2) copies of everything;

application form TM-7

Passport with copies of of photo page, and a copy of valid Non Imm visa.

Copy of wives ID card and House registration

Copy of Marriage license it will need to be translated if its not a Thai license

Birth certificate of children (if any)

Thai bank statement for three months and letter from bank verifing deposit for 90 days (better safe than sorry) 60 days may work this year only

Extras may be requested such as pictures and map but I was never asked for them at Phibun Mangsahan Immigration

My handout from Immigration also states a medical certificate but I have never had to provide one.

Once Immigration accepts this they will need you to go to your local police department for an interview with wife and witnesses, and Puyai Bahn. I was given a letter to take to police department that instructed then to do the interviews, but a friend was called by the police department to come in for the interview. This is for the first year only.

You should get a stamp in your pasport for 30 days when you return they will give you the year extension.

Good luck

He has been on 12 monthly extensions of stay based on retirement. He will now be applying for a 12 month extension of stay based on marriage.

Some offices require 2 copies, some need 1. So yes take 2 to be safe.

As far as I understand it this is not the norm but a few offices do this. I know Ubonjoe had to do this.

What about Suan Plu. Are you interviewed there or at your local nick?

Don't worry James none of the above applies to you.

It's it only for some local offices. For example the one at Phibun which is my local office.

Any estimate on turn around time from day I hand it in until visa granted as I wish to purchase flights abroad

On my first retirement visa I returned after about 3 weeks and waited an hour

My wife is concerned what they will ask at POolice interview with my ltd Thai (I guesss their French nor Basque will be at conversation level)

We have nothing to hide and slleep in same bed etc its a real marriage she does the washing up and drink the beer etc!

A 30 day wait while they consider your application is normal.

Tell your wife not to worry about your Thai. She will be answering most of the questions. When I got mine the only question they asked me was what my parents names were.
