Uk Visitors Visa

Featured Replies

Hello all, my partner will be applying for a visitors visa next month (first time) if she gets it she will not come to the uk until october, and only stay for a max of 3 months.

How long after the visa is issued, must it be utilised??? and how long would she be given on arrival? some say 6 months, others say 3?

Regards, :o

A visit visa is valid for 6 months, and the dates on the visa are the dates during which the holder is allowed to be in the UK. If someone for example is granted a visa and arrives just one month before the expiry date, their maximum visit is going to be one month. (In addition the IO on arrival might want to be sure there had been no change of circumstances since the visa was issued).

The ECO has the discretion to postdate the visa by up to 3 months. I would have thought that applying in April for an intended visit in October is somewhat premature.

You can have the start date deferred by up to 3 months. My Wife did last year.

If you are thinking about looking at flights etc. I think it is a good idea to apply early.

That puts her into around May to apply.

Thanks for your replies, I think the best thing to do is to have her apply in august/september time.
