Are Tourist Visa Extensions Free, Too?

Sorry if this has been covered already. I know that tourist visas are free until around June (?), but are the extensions free also? Taking a trip to an embassy for a free 90 day visa (with free extensions) is certainly a much better deal than a free 60 day visa.

Extensions are not free and cost 1,900 baht.

Thanks, Mario. That truly sucks. For a moment I thought Thailand was offering a deal similar to almost every other country in the world - providing a free 90 day stay to Americans and people from other Western countries. What was I thinking?

Tourist Visas are free until June 4th.

Just received a new tourist visa back from Brisbane (Australia) consulate. After checking by phone a copy of the airline booking was required to prove the trip was legit. The visa has "gratis" on the top line.
