Leasing Army Land

As I understand it from a Thai friend here in Nakhonsawan you can lease land off the military at something like 1,000 Baht per annum. On that land you can build a house and live there happily.

That sounds like a good idea but I am sure there must be some problems associated with this. Not easy to get information on the subject.

Any ideas / knowledge on this?
