Cabinet approves 5-year tsunami protocol scheme

The Cabinet has approved a model scheme for a 5-year tsunami prevention and mitigation plan, which will address the constant risk of tidal waves along the nation's coastlines.

Deputy Spokesman to the Prime Minister's Office Supachai Jaisamut revealed yesterday that the Cabinet has approved a model scheme that will initiate a 5-year tsunami prevention and mitigation protocol.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has been entrusted with coordinating with relevant organizations on substantiating the protocol as well as preparing an accompanied budget plan to deal with and reduce the threat of tidal waves.

A total of 4 strategies and 132 activities have been outlined in the model scheme.
