I'm applying for a WP for the first time next week and was hoping you learned gurus could help me to get it spot on first time.

I've cobbled together my list of "must haves" from various posts and would like comments on whether I've got it right. It's my Thai GF's 51% Thai company BTW, turning over just under 1m baht and is not VAT registered. Our (known and trustworthy) lawyer will be banging all the paperwork into the local (Prachuap Khiri Khan) labour office for me as I'm up to my neck at the moment. The better shape the stuff I give him is in, then the less it'll cost me he says. Further questions I have right now are in red....

Documentaition required for a Work Permit application

1. Completed form W.P. 2

2. 3 photographs (5x6 cm.)

3. A certificate of employment issued by present employer. (Does this mean my new Thai employer? Or do they mean a copy of the "job offer"? If so, does it have to state offered salary i.e. min 50,000 baht /mo for UK citizen? etc.)

4. Copy of commercial registration document and the objective of the company.

5. A copy of the list of shareholders.

6. A current balance sheet.

7. An organizational chart of Co. employee structure showing min 4 Thais, and including any foreigners hired by the company. (Will this be a chart of the structure after I'm employed or before?)

8. A passport with valid non-imm visa stamp.

9. A copy of all passport pages.

10. Documentary evidence of educational qualifications. (Officially or otherwise translated into Thai?)

11. Documentary evidence of employment from previous employer. (Does this have to be in Thai?)

12. A certificate showing work experience. (Is this a separate "certificate" of some kind or is this just the information entered on the WP2???)

13. A medical certificate.

14. A map showing where the place of work is located.

15. Photographs of employees taken at the work place, (including the company name sign displayed outside the premises?).

16. Power of attorney if not applying personally

Any input from experience will be greatly appreciated. ie any stuff here I don't need, any stuff I've missed. :o

Many thanks in advance.

3. Believe to be the contract and the information of salary. Note that for labour there is no minimum incoem requirement, there is only an income requirement from immigration if you want to apply for an extension of stay based on working.

10. official document, if not in English or Thai a translation is nice.

12. That is indeed just the form.

Note that the company must have a registered capital of 4 million baht.

Hi Mario,

According to many previous posts, although you quite rightly say there is no "official" salary requirement for a WP, the labour dept. had adopted the salary figures used by immigration for extension of stay. Sunbelt have quoted this a couple of times in the past. Have things changed again?

Also, for a Thai Co. with 4 Thai employees and 1 foreign employee, the required registered capital was 2 million baht recently. Has this changed?

The registered capital is indeed 2 million, my mistake. (Had no coffee yet)

As for the minimum income, it seems to be the case that different offices have different requirements. But in the labour regulations I can find no minimum income requirement. Do note that labour is evene less accesible then immigration.
