Hi all

I am looking to stay long term in Thailand and if possible would like to avoid doing visa runs.

I am planning to get a Single entry Non-immigrant O visa (married to thai) and doing the extension after 90 days.

As I need the 400,000Bt. for extension in Thailand asap I was planning to send it to the wives account before we go and when we get there open an account myself and transfer the cash to that account.

Does anyone see any flaws in this plan ie.

will immigration be fussy about the 400,000 coming from the wives account to mine?

will I have any problems opening a bank account on a single entry non-o visa?

and will I have enough time to get everthing sorted?

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and thanks in advance for any answers you may have. :o

The sticking point may be the 400,000 coming from your Wife's account. Different Immigration Offices/Officers different rules. Keep proof of the transfer into your Wife,s acc. Get the TT Transfer document from her bank.

You can open a bank account for yourself. You may have to try a few different banks but you will get one.

As the first application should only require a 60 day time in account believe I would wait, set up account (should not be a problem - go with wife to verify you) and make the wire transfer directly into your name only account. Worst case would be you have to obtain a 60 day extension of stay for 1,900 baht if things get delayed beyond a month.

It should not be a problem doing as you asked but some officers could be picky - if you do that way be sure to obtain transfer paperwork for everything.

In either case be sure to file paperwork with your home back that will allow you to make wire transfers without a visit to there office. This paperwork usually has to be done in person.

Hi guys

thank you very much for your replys,

although I said moving the cash was a plan the fact is (stupidly) we've already moved it,

from what you say that shouldn't be too much of a problem but the cash has actually come not from my UK account but from the wives (it's our joint cash but not a joint account).

Do you know if this TT document will have that infomation on it and will that be a problem.

Once again thanks in advance for any answers.
