Gang of Thieves Caught After Stealing Large Appliances Using a Single Motorbike
Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A gang of thieves who brazenly stole washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, and televisions using just a single motorbike has been apprehended by police. Three suspects have been arrested, while one remains at large. At 21:00 on 13 March, Pol. Col. Pisut Chantarasuwan, Superintendent of Rattanathibet Police Station in Nonthaburi, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Phasakorn Chaiwatee Wong, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, led an operation to arrest three suspects: Kasempun Phowijit (37), Nares Monpun (28), and Piyawat Yuensuk (22). The stolen items recovered from the suspects included one washing machine, one refrigerator, one television, and one air conditioner. The gang used a blue-and-black Honda Wave motorbike, which had no licence plate, to transport the stolen goods. Kasempun was arrested at a rented house in Soi Nonthaburi 14, while Nares and Piyawat were found at a rented room in Soi Nonthaburi 8, both in Mueang Nonthaburi District. The investigation began after a victim reported a break-in at a shophouse in Soi Rattanathibet 28. The theft occurred between 22 February and 5 March, during which thieves forced open the back door and stole various electrical appliances. Police examined CCTV footage from the area and found 3-4 suspects breaking in through the back of the building before using a motorbike to transport the stolen goods. The suspects made multiple trips, carrying off washing machines, refrigerators, and televisions of various sizes (43-inch and 55-inch models). From their inquiries, officers identified the suspects as Kasempun, Nares, Piyawat, and a fourth man known as “Tee,” who remains on the run. During questioning, Nares claimed that Tee had told them he had stolen electrical wiring from an abandoned house in Soi Rattanathibet 28 and that various household appliances were left behind. Believing the items were unclaimed, the group proceeded to take them. Nares admitted they had taken the goods in multiple trips, first carrying out the washing machine, then the refrigerator, and later the televisions. The thefts began on 22 February. Before that, Tee and Kasempun had already taken two televisions and an air conditioner. Nares stated that he had kept some of the stolen items for personal use, still unaware they belonged to someone else, as Tee had claimed they came from a fire-damaged house. The suspects have been charged with theft at night involving forced entry and the use of a vehicle to transport stolen property, aiding their escape or evading capture. They have been handed over to Rattanathibet Police Station for further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, police are continuing their search for Tee, who remains at large. -- 2025-03-14
