Price is 650,000 Baht, which is a pretty good deal by Thai standards. Yamaha's 2009 R1 is going for 880,000! :o

There is no stock- you have to order and place a deposit and the bike will be sent from Japan.

Contact Kawasaki Thailand if you need more information about ordering details:

I was told available immediately and yes 650,000 A very good price I think. The 650,000 is on the price list with all the other bikes prices and they include on road cost also.

Love one myself...unfortunately the bank doesnt agree with me!! :o

Tell me about your 250....I may be interested......

I am not really liking the plate holder with reflectors, also the front fenders reflectors, YUK!!

Is there aftermarket stuff out for this bike?

Bah- they just have to put that stuff on for the bike to be road legal. First thing you do is tear it off! :D:D:o:D

Ouch. I know it's wrong to compare State's prices to LOS, but still....it's ~2/3 the price there! Guess protectionism rears its head again.

Yep, gotta make people buy one of those made in Thailand litre plus superbikes before they go out and buy a nasty import.

yeah the pricing is pretty disappointing, I was really surprised when the girl at the motor show said 650k.

given that the Ninja 250R and the ER6N/F are fairly close to US/UK prices I was hoping for something around or just below the 500k mark. That way they could still make over 100,000 baht import duty per bike and at that price they'd sell quite a few of them. At 650k I'm guessing not too many will buy (especially with that butt-ugly exhaust :o )

Well, TiT folks and imports are dam_n pricey here, whether its cars, bikes, electronics, etc. Gotta pay to play :D

But 650,000 Baht is actually a very competitive price when you compare to other super sport liter bike prices here in Thailand. The 2009 Yamaha R1 is going for 880,000!!! :o

With the Japan-Thailand Free Trade Agreement the import duties on Japanese goods will eventually be phased out over the next ~8 years or so. In the meantime the extremely strong Japanese Yen doesn't help either.

Happy Trails!

All I can say is nice bike for nice price in LOS. Is it confirmed 650k on the road? Or is this exclusive something, anyone can confirm the on the road price (including insurance etc.)

Yamaha R-1 2009 is now 870k in US approximately 435k baht

Yamaha R-6 2009 is now 680k in US approximately 305k baht

Yamaha does include everything into this price, it's on the road with insurance and all

Suzuki GSX-R 750 is rumored to 700k in US approximately 410k baht

Still not confirmed yet

Kawasaki ZX10R stated here in the forum to 650k in US approximately 413k baht

If this is on the road price it's very reasonable compared to the other bikes.

Honda has nothing published yet, but it will be interesting to see, looks like Suzuki is taking less profit than Yamaha, and if Honda does to... Time will tell as Suzuki has not opened there showroom yet, hopefully the Gixxer will not be more than the ZX10R, it should cost the same really as it almost is in the states.

This comparison really show us that Yamaha has enjoyed a monopoly on legal fully warranted bigbikes in Thailand, the local made Kawasaki could not show this to us, as Yamaha just claimed hey they're not taxed like us. The ZX10R and Suzuki will prove this is not 100% correct and they have had a big markup so far, and unless that changes lot of Yamaha buyers will look at Suzuki and import Kawasaki for alternatives. Only piece missing is Honda, if they use a similar markup as Kawasaki and apparently Suzuki for import, Yamaha is forced to do something. If Honda sides with Yamaha well... We end up with 2 over priced Jap's and 2 more realistically priced Jap's (import) Locally made Kawasaki owns the market no doubt.

When they release the ER6f they have captured the smaller 250's and mid range multirole bikes. The good thing is these bikes are igniting more interest and more big bikes, and bikers, some will want to upgrade to a more powerful bike, or like a model more later on, save up for it and get an import.

I think this has worked in many levels too.. Phuket has a ksr specialist shop (dont laugh) and the young guys are pouring money into those (saw one with twin carbon cans, a lift kit, along with all the usual bores etc.. Looked surprisingly good and I am sure is fun) and those guys will be the future big bikers.. Even tho its off the radar of most bike riders I think that ksr starter bike is doing a huge amount for changing the bike = scooter or bike = underbone like sonic or raider thats been part of the landscape.

^ Totally agree LivinLOS,

Every bike week now you see hundreds of young Thais show up on thoroughly modded and personalized KSR's. It's the perfect first bike for a skinny Thai kid- cheap, easy to ride, not very dangerous, legal, and fun to mod.

At the Bangkok Motor Show they had a "Kawasaki Day" on April 5th and there must have been 200-300 KSR's parked over by the stunt area and no two were the same. Wish I'd taken some pics...

There are plenty of rich kids in Thailand- when they outgrow their KSR's you know they'll be moving on to D-Trackers or Ninja 250R's, followed by ER6's and for those who can afford it, liter bikes like the ZX10R. Kawasaki is doing a good job at building brand loyalty from the bottom up and even their imported bikes are competitively priced, so seems like a winning combination.

Let the Good Times Roll!

Yeah thats not ecaped me at all..

Here on phuket you have the Yammie, triumph, kwaker and then the independant custom crowd.. Of that bunch Kwaker seem to have put a full range of machines that can work with a Thai pocket book and build brand loyalty. I see that as a very smart set of progression options.

I also said before, they have the KLX 140 in sort of 3/4 dirtbike size.. Why they dont 'd-tracker' it in the same way theres a klx110 and a ksr110 and klx250 / d-tracker 250 is beyond me.. All the work is done in design and fabbing.. If there was a larger KSR for semi cheap I would have one as a toy / round town machine.. Just seems obvious to me.

Well, my son seems to quite like the KLX110 :D:o

I agree that the KSR have done a good bit as well.

What I notice is rich kids with Ninja 250R doing track time, also I notice a growing interest for big bikes in general. For a while there were choppah and nothing of other interest amongst the Thai's now sport bikes is coming more into interest. You notice car owners go over and take photo of your bike standing next to it.

And I can promise you there are more Thai's with a load of money then there are expats in Thailand with money.

The highway police bought 15 Yamaha FJR 1300 last year mostly for VIP escort, and ordered 35 Yamaha FZ6 for highway patrolling this year. All in all very positive... The old problem that a motorbike was low status seems to be long gone now, that is something we owe Harley Davidson brand, the remaining obstacle really when you chat with them is the fear of heat AND to much sun exposed to themselves.

WOW! The Highway Police have some DEEP pockets!!! I thought the 15 FJRs was an impressive sale for Yamaha Thailand, but now they're coming back for 35 FZ6's?! Amazing! This new deal will be worth something like 16 million Baht! I think Yamaha can coast for the rest of the year :D

Do you think they have 35 guys on the Thai highway patrol that are capable of riding FZ6's on the highway? :D

Perhaps they'll send 'em to Japan to learn how to ride! Japanese motorcycle cops are AMAZING! :o

Yes, Mr. Man is over the moon over that sale, good news for me as they will stock more spare parts for FZ6. And you know Asians when they go for something they really go for it, so I would not be surprised if the guys on those bikes will be real pro street riders (they get training as we speak from Yamaha race team) and close to impossible to run away from... Unless you are ferking good on a more powerful bike.

And guess what I saw when I went to the airport, a Police FJR on the highway stopped an idiot in a Fortuner who thought he was driving on a race track, will they open for us big bikers soon??? I really hope so...

I talked to Mr. Man and he is trying to setup a ride with police escort in front and rear on the highway down to Pattaya soon, that would be nice :o

Here is a policeman in Greece getting training, must be as far from the Japanese Police bikers as ever possible.
