Adding My Newborn And Myself To Tabien Ban

Hi guys, I will be back in Thailand soon and want to buy a car, get a license. Due to the less than favourable FX rate I would like to finance for now and finalise the loan at a later stage when FX is better.

So, I guess that I will need or would be better if I had my name in my wifes family book, to help get the license and finance. We have been married near 7 years and have a f/hold home in the mid north. I never bothered with it before but now it would probably good to have.

O.K. here's the big question! Can I put my name in my wifes families Tabien Ban. Also while I am at it, I have a 3 week old newborn daughter born here in Australia, can she be added to the family Tabien Ban?

Thanks guys.

You will not be allowed to be added to the Blue Tabian Baan. Farang have the pleasure of having their very own Yellow Tabian Baan. There is a thread somewhere detailing how this can be got from your local Amphur.

When I got mine the process was dead easy if a little lengthy.

and be careful with the Thai spelling of your name. If there's a difference between the spelling in the TB and any other Thai documents, you'll have a problem in the future.

Thanks guys, I am guessing that a yellow tabien ban will suffice as proof of address for the license and finance side of things. And even though my newborn was born here (AUS) but her mum is a Thai citizen would she be o.k to go in the blue tabien ban?

Thanks,

Damo.

Hello Damo

The baby registration is fairly simple, you sent the birth certificate to the DFAT to get it noterizsed [25 dollars]. Then you phone the Thai consulate and they will send you the paperwork to issue a Thai birth certificate. When you get back to Thailand you take the baby into the Amphor Office and they will put her on the house book. Then you go the the passport Office and 2 weeks later she will have a Thai passport The baby will have to do a border run and stamp out on her OZ passport then re entry on her Thai passport. I have to say it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Jim

or if you are close to a consulate or the embassy get the Thai passport issued in Australia. Enter Thailand on the Thai passport.

^ But can the daughter get a Thai passport at a Thai Consul in Australia with an Australian birth certificate? She does not have a Thai birth certificate yet and like most other foreign legations, I don't believe Thai Consuls issue those.
